i recently reinstalled FS2..... and while installing.... at about 69% it asked for the 2nd cd. then the 3rd cd. then the 2nd one again. Then it finally installed. Then when i try to open Fred, i get a horny hen load of errors.

     I also tried to use the VP extractor to try to fidn some of the sound fx and voices of the game but i can't find them....

 Any help would be appreciated.

The CD thing sounds normal (I remember it too); what sort of errors are you getting?

1. be sure you heard the booming voice "Descent 3" and then download the patch, and that should fix it...

ps... the descent 3 is just to ensure it finished installing...

Yeah i tryed reinstalling and everything, this only started after about a few months ago, i un installed so i could put my friends on cuz he has the Scif Fi edition, but it would lock up after round' 70% so i stopped that and tryed to install normally and during the installation it asked for the 3rd cd which it never did before and then it would ask for the 2nd cd agaIN after the 3rd cd and wierd **** like that.

As for fred errors i get a stack dump and i get a bunch of Fred2.exe. numbered errors and USER32.dll errors.

ntdll.dll and then more of the above.

Have you got any mods installed which you didn`t remove?

You sure you've got enough space on your HD? Don't run WinAMP while installing. Try doing the most basic install. Wipe your CD's and clean your CD drive.

A'ight mod wise i think im clean although i have an empty dereleict folder. I have run Winamp though so i'll cut that out.

Same problem happened to me, but only if i installed act 3 cbanis... bt that was after my system was wiped...

sort of the same thing happened to me. for some reason, the tech room ani's became corrupted on disc 1 and i had to skip them. (and it IS a legal copy :p  ) i think which discs it asks for depends on what you are trying to get it to install.

Got it to work. Woo hoo!!!! yeah, i just shut down all other prgrams and it works fine afaik
