Title: Everything is Permitted.
Post by: bloated on December 30, 2014, 02:55:21 am
So I played Everything is Permitted, I followed the rules, scanning the station, then found the transport Henrikson was on, once I found the transport I immediately  put 2 Grimlers into the engines which destroyed them, I then put two more in and strafed the transport on my way buy.

I watched it blow up in the status box after showing 0% hull integrity.

Yet the moment the transport with no engines blows up it says I failed?...... Not only that, but that I failed because the pieces jumped out?..... really?

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the mission. :( Is it possible what you thought was the target wasn't actually? Did the transport you identify go yellow when you got close enough to it? That's the indication to what your target should be. If it was anyway, man, I don't know. I tried the mission and it worked out fine, though I couldn't get the debris to warp out. It's possible the game hit a case where a ship got destroyed but another part thinks it should have warped out.

My only suggestion is to try the mission again. If it continues to do it, let me know and I'll have to do some deeper debug or something.

Id'd the target by tracking it's transmissions, target turned yellow at which point I targeted it's engines, upon getting a solid lock from 1km away I launched 2 grimlers that took out the targets engines, at roughly 400 meters the grimlers had cycled and I fired the 2nd pair, target was down to 5% hull integrity when I strafed it with gattler and Vulcan shortly after firing the 2nd pair of grimlers.

I passed buy it on full burn as the escorts began pursuit, monitored the destruction of the transport on my HUD as I fled.

The instant it popped I was notified I'd failed.

Is the mission scripted in a way so that the options for destroying the ship are limited?

Nope, the trigger for the 'Kill Elder' directive is just 'is-destroyed-delay' which is as about as simple and fool-proof as you can get, in theory anyway!

Success, Traitor is dead.

This time when the transport popped the game told me to escape.  I'm going to assume I skipped past the engines and misread the subsystem that I hit or that my launching them while under boost sent them in at the wrong angle and they impacted the surface of the transport instead of the subsystem.

either or this time I launched while cruising then hit the afterburners to launch the 2nd pair while strafing and all went well.

thx for the feedback I was worried I was going to be forced to jump through hoops.

Wait, some people actually fired a shot in that mission? I just had it beamed to death without ever getting spotted. Even got that bonus objective for not a single shot hitting me.

More fun/cinematic to go racing through the explosion amidst the formation at full burn with guns blazing after which getting the distance to make the jump.

I beamed the thing the first couple of times, used the decoy in a few others, went straight for brute force on occasions, but that didn't work out too well.
There's quite a few way to do the job.

Which is why I assume it is called "Everything is Permitted"

I didn't even know you could beam it, et cetera, until I read about it. I just lit the berk up and ran. Same bonus objective; I think you have to actually take hull damage, and you're dead if you take hull damage anyway.

I am not a subtle man.

I tried several times to use the beam to complete the mission.  It was just too cumbersome.  I couldn't ever do it without being exposed, and the time limit was just too restrictive (and a nasty surprise the first time).

It was a good thing the "skip mission after failing 5 times" method was permitted because I remember failing multiple times at all other ways.

I loved to use the beam cannon in that mission :D
It was simply hillarious to blast that traitor into oblivion and then disappear.
Like Assassin's Creed in space ;)

I took the simpler approach and shot the **** out of it with Sidhes and a point-blank Shrike.

Dunno, to me it felt like Laporte wanted to pull the trigger herself. After all her friends, the Wargods died duo to this one traitor. :)
I just identified the transport and then dived in, not worrying about subsystems and incinerating the transport in a matter of seconds.
It was fun <:
+ I got the no hit bonus as well :D

I'm hoping that voice acting would make it easier. The issue I had was that I didn't really understand all the steps needed to make the beam work. It was definitely a lot easier to just pull the trigger yourself.
