Im doing a survey into a bug.
If you have a Geforce 4 Ti of any type please reply to this topic.
Does Freespace 1 and 2 have any visual distortions on the animations or font?
What kind of geforce card do you have? ie PNY, ASUS, Leadtek
What speed? ie 4600, 4400, ....etc
What OS are you using? ie XP, 98, ...etc
If you are having problems e-mail me and I'll send you an exe that might fix things up for FS2.

I have a Geforce 4 TI 4400, and yes Freespace 2 has distortions with the placement of the video files on the main hall and the text gets 'prickly' bumps on it.
Any idea of the cause?
-
Could you tell me what make it is please. ie PNY, ASUS, Leadtek.
And what OS?
The cause seems to be a slight inaccuracy in scaling, probably off by one pixel. I have also noticed the problem (less obvious) in Dungeon Keeper 2. I can provide you with an exe to fix this and I have posted the code to fix this in the 'GF4 bumpmap and open source' thread.
I dont want to submit it yet or anything because I havent tested this 'fix' on non GF4 cards. Hopefully I will get to do that today.
But please answer my questions so I can get to the root of this problem.

I've put in an order for an:
MSI GEFORCE 4 Ti4600 128MB DDR
I'll let you know what kind of problems the game gives me when I get it in (hopefully not that many... I like FS as it is! :))

Hey the exe that you gave me works. Is there anything else it does other than fix the font?
-
My card's an Asus.

##UnknownPlayer##:
Thanks for your input, thats very helpful.
Looks like its a problem with the whole geforce 4 range then.
What OS are you using? XP, 98, 2000, ME, etc
Do want me to send you an exe that fixes that up for now?
JBX-Phoenix:
Good, glad it works. The movies wont work because that code has been stripped out. I've made a few minor changes, I think it displays all the movie names in the list but of course that doesnt do any good. Once I've done a few more tests I'll try and get this code change to fs_open and we wont have to worry about this problem any more.
