Combat Federation

After much thought on how to proceed with this idea, I think I have it locked down. The Combat Federation MOD is being greenlighted. It will not involve anything from the Planetary Mods discussion, mostly because right now that's a pipe dream. Maybe in the future.

The Combat Federation is set 400-600 years in the future. That means new everything. I have compartmentalized this as much as possible. The staff requirements as set are as follows:

General Manager ShadowWolf_IH
oversees entire operation

Visual Effects Coordinator Megadude
oversees the following
Models
Textures
Loadouts
Icons
Sheild Icons
Effects
Backgrounds

Audio Coordinator
oversees all voice aspects

Tables Coordinator
oversees all aspects of .tbl development Hades

Technical Writing Coordinator
oversees the following
Main storyline development
All subplots
All source books

Missions Coordinator
oversees mission development

Mapping Coordinator
oversees the mapping of the project, who owns what systems

This will be a huge effort to undertake, set up Episodically, as in there will be instalments to the mod. The idea is to give the player total control of his fleet, each decision made, in battle and out of battle will be critical as the player attempts to expand his space. This many decisions makes for multiple outcomes, yes, you can lose the war.

Technical Writing Coordinator
oversees the following
Main storyline development

resume: 1 campaign not announced yet
              razors Dark Empire Campaign
             SS mission writer , story orgenizer

and I can help write missions, edit storys etc.

Ok, so then fredder and Technical Writing Coordinator?  That's a big plus.  You saw that we plan to include source books I hope.  The source books will be exactly that, small books, maybe 25 pages each giving everything about a realm.  Histories, ships, notable planets and installations, military forces, basically everything about that realm.  Each realm will have it's own source book.  

I am hoping to get ahold of my Visual Coordinator soon.  I don't want to be without him and have to use the prebuilt things, or things from other mods.

well here we are for another instalment of the least watched thread at hlp.    

For those who are interested, the ships list is nearly ready, 98% of all combat vessels have been chosen, 100% of all combat vessels chosen are in ships tbl, all that is left on them is weapons as the new ones are developed.  About 35% of noncombat vehicles have been chosen, and these are also in the ships table ready to go.  

The source books have been organized and writing will start soon, anyone willing to help with this should contact me via this thread, or pm.

other notes, we have two new models which need textures, and two old ones that need to be retextured (badly).  Anyone willing to help in this department should also contact me via this thread or pm.

weapons are under serious development, very soon the ships and weaps tbls will be complete.  we've made the ships and weaps our primary focus at this stage.  

If anyone would like to (and if you wouldn't like to but are willing to)  create the node map (expand and then divide into four realms), again you know how to contact me, and please do.

on a more personnal note, my nine month old nephew died last week from Zelwegger's (sp?) syndrome.  Don't offer me sympathy or anything like that, but for those of you who pray, light candles, hug trees, whatever.....please offer your silent support to his parents.  They are good people.

I was just thinking. ShadowWolf_IH, what would you think of two bombs kind of like the beacons in Command and Conquer Renegade. They would be TAG missiles. One would make a certain ship fire a VERY large nuclear missile. In renegade this is called the Retribution beacon, and one for an Ion cannon, a HUGE beam. The beacon in Renegade is called the Godsend. If someone has any better names, then have a go with me. But I kind of like these names. Maybe the retribution could just be a superbomb.

and in the middle of the floor sat a pile of my hair......

Ships are completely chosen, and outside of weapons allowed on them, and default weapons on them, the ships table is ready to go.  

Now under development:
a wig to replace the hair i have pulled out so far,
weapons testing,
the map, also being divided four ways,
one really wicked looking vasudan corvette,
source books,
once we get the weaps and ships tbls done we can move onto fredding....how fun.

That would rock, what we really need at the moment is texturers.  So far we have two models which need texturing, with more to come.  Megadude is our Visual Effects Coordinator.  He simply oversees all of those things listed, i don't expect that one person can handle them all.  Doing a few renders would help, and so would the artwork for our website.  

By the way, i can't tell with the wolf being colored like that, but that is either lucas or lakota.  He or she is alpha in the pack that the wolf we (my lady and i) sponsor.  His name is, ironically enough considering that this is a freespace forum, Apollo.  We love wolves.  Very cool pic.

Ships table is done.   weapons table is done.  Hud table is done.  a few small problem areas in ships and weaps to be ironed out, but everything is now functional.  

under development:
new ships to be added to the table upon completion.
nebulae and Planets being kicked around, do we want them?  Are they worth the hassel?
Map will be done in a few days.
Source books laid out and ready to shift to creation mode.
testing ships and weaps.
Ships and weaps pack should be available for staff download in the next few days.
The demo has moved from concept to construction.

Newest update:

Soundtrack is chosen, comprised of fs1 and fs2 music.  Plowing ahead into the source books management aspect.  We expect the demo to be realeased in mid october at this rate.

under development....three new anti fighter cap ship weaps.....

the mod is becoming less a headache and alot more fun now.  Thank you staff.

remember, due to Copyright issues, you cant make any FS1 music availeble to download in whatever format or form.

The FS1port that Galactic emperor made, where not allowed to share the soundtracks from FS1 online due to copyright issues.

This information came from some :V: god, i cant recall his name, shame on me, but it is true.

Can we distribute a 'digitally remastered' version of the soundtrack. Its got awesome sound. We are debating whether to use even better sound quality than fs2 uses, if that's allowed. have the source code guys come up with a way to use mp3's?
