A test video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuBmRUr2BDk) from Axem's work on the tank deployment interface for 'Eyes in the Storm'.
-
this uh
this isn't on jupiter
where's the storm battuta
WHERES THE ****ING STORM
-
WHERE ARE THE EYES HOW DOES THE PUN WORK NOW
-
He's working on the interface (which is for Eyes in the Storm), here, in this mission, which is not Eyes in the Storm.
-
Looks cool. I have a soft spot for anything that involves tanks.
-
Yeah, that was just a test mission! Fear not, there will be eyes, a storm, and possibly other things as well. Such as as control scheme that doesn't make you want to join the NTF.
-
Wait a while! I was told that freespace is.... a Spaceflight combat sim! WHAT ARE THIS THINGS DOING HERE?!
Bah, just joking around.
Axem never cease to amaze me with all this pretty nice stuff.
-
Axem, you're officially scaring me again!
Nah this is looking fantastic so far; I love especially the grainy TV look you've got on the camera view. Congrats on a job well done man.

Now presenting FreeSpace the Strategy Game! ;)

No, that would be this (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=81590.0).

Yeah this is more Freespace the
Tower Tank Defence.
-
Heeeeyyyyyy, that video is from 12 months ago! :p
Have you got the Argo LOD issue when viewing from the overhead camera sorted out yet? Or is it as simple as an Argo#TD with the 1st LOD (i.e. detail1) distance set very large?
Oh, and lest I sound like an ungrateful whinging bastard, let me re-iterate that this is super cool!!! I can't wait till we have some more tower defence missions built for FSO :D
-
I am more impressed with the drop effect
-
niffiwan: Yeah, you got me. :p I started the script a year ago, I think I showed it off once in #bp, but then I dropped it for a bit. Now Battuta has uncovered it again...
Anyway your Argo ideas isn't a bad workaround. But I don't think that this mission (in its current state) will make a public release.

Oh what's this? I only knew Windmills, but this mod is news to me.
Just to make sure: There hasn't been a round-based mod for FS2 yet that I missed, has there?
-
Why is there a Narayana buried in the landscape?
-
Norbert: Nope, no turn-based combat if that's what you mean.
EuclidianGeometry: Poor attempt at having a fixed artillery emplacement. :p
-

Thats a simple post-proccesing thing, I believe its even available with SCP alone.... Film Grain, im right? Or something Stripes?
-
The camera orbiting AC-130 style is what gets me.

Must be two filters together or something newer than the film grain. Film grain makes it look grainy, but without stripes. Or at least it did way back when it came out first.

Great vid Axem :D

That's refreshing.
This would also be fun if such an interface could be used for some sort of subsystem priority system , where you get a top-view camera such as this one and click all the subsystems (or markers representing subsystems) of your current target and all allies would then know which systems to attack and which to ignore, or to coordinate a Trebuchet cluster / strike.

I just watched that video with "Icarus" as music, then I restarted my winamp and out of the 3728 songs that I have in my playlist it was "Icarus 2" that started up. Lol

It's the Random Number Generating Deity, he's giving you an omen.

I may or may not have screamed, both inwardly and outwardly.
-
Wow.
Also, does that mean we'll get to see some JAD shenanigans, on the ground?
-
I believe the other filter besides film grain would have to be a scan lines filter.
-
I gotta say that this is ideal for being able to make levels planetside much more interesting and controllable. I also see big potential for using the tactical overlay to get a quick overview for the attacker's side, as well.
EDIT: Hope this isn't considered a necro - I think it's still very relevant and interesting enough to bump at any rate.

Would it be possible to have the occupied and the unused platform labels be in different colors? It would make them easier to tell apart :)
