Hi to everyone.
I have installed the Freespace Open complete package (including FS2 retail from GOG) with the FSO installer and everything has installed ok but I can't find the wxlauncher setup nor any of the builds. I tried installing wxlauncher separately but there is no root directory showing up. I have Windows 7 professional 64 bit.
Thank you for any help.

So you installed gog fs2, then ran the installer?
Have you tried a search for the launcher?
-
I installed Freespace open using th FSO installer opting for the complete package with builds, mods and wxlauncher and fs2 retail included.
I could'nt find the wxlauncher setup in my Freespace 2 folder and tried searching for it but no luck so I downloaded and installed wxlauncher separately to my Freespace 2 folder hoping it would work but the launcher says nothing in root directory.
Hope this makes sense.

Screenshot of your fs2 folder? Showing all the files, if possible.

You can use the snipping tool to get the screenshot, if that makes it easier.
Put Windows Explorer in Details view (http://optimwise.com/details-view-in-windows-explorer/), maximize the window, use Snipping Tool (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/use-snipping-tool-capture-screen-shots) to grab the window (click down arrow next to "New", click "Window Snip").
Save as PNG or JPG on the Desktop and upload to TinyPic (http://tinypic.com/?t=postupload) or similar site; copy the line in the [img][/img] tags they give to your thread here. Delete the file on your Desktop.

There is currently something wrong with the FSOInstaller's "Complete" option, which seems to cause it to fail to install the executables and the launcher, but makes it think it's downloaded them anyways.
To solve this issue using FSOInstaller itself, the easiest way is to select "Custom installation" and then select "Re-run installation for mods that are already installed and up to date".
Another option is to simply manually download the wxLauncher, the FSO build executables, and possible the old Launcer.exe if you wish, and simply put them in your FreeSpace2 directory.

Here is a link to the wxLauncher (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=67950.0) release thread.

Thanks for your help. I will try doing what Herra Tohtori said using the custom installation first.
Many thanks again :)

I followed Herra Tohtoris advice and have got everything loaded now thanks but have other issue whilst playing. I'll post in the appropriate section.

Currently? I haven't heard of such an issue. Is there anyone else who has experienced it? Are there any log files?

There have been a few cases, mostly resolved on IRC. It doesn't seem like it affects everyone, and I don't really know what causes it. I just tried it to see if could reproduce the issue and get a log for it, but it worked normally for me. At one previous point in time I was troubleshooting it, it didn't work (run the complete option with default settings, and it failed to install the executables), but I didn't save any of the logs for that particular run of the installer.
So far it seems that everyone with this issue has been able to bypass it using the Custom installation option.

I've never had an issue with the executables or launchers not being installed or updated, but I do have that heisenbug I've already posted about where a file or two (and always a different file) fails to properly install or update, whenever I run the installer.

You can also just skip wxlauncher and use Launcher.exe that's in your FSO folder. It has the paw print icon.
-
Just keep in mind it's not compatible with Win 8 (and I assume Win 10) when / if you upgrade your OS.
-
The old Launcher is very definitely compatible with Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.

There is also Yet Another Launcher (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=68413.0), an underappreciated gem among community-contributed tools. It's very much like the original launcher, if you want something simpler than wxLauncher.
