Title: VM2 - DEVTHREAD
Post by: procdrone on June 07, 2015, 11:46:43 am
Everyone can have one, Why not me? I can use a little excuse to boast around, when I have done something.
Don't expect text walls here. I can't write for ****.

You are free to ask questions about VM2 If you want, more then glad to answer.

For now, lets have a look on the starchart.

Green systems are colonized, yellow are not. Red are... well... infested.
Orange node link indicates that the systems are connected via jumpgate, grey ones are collapsed/too unstable to travel.

Awesome node map.

What are the grey dotted paths? Unstable nodes? I see Sol is also grey-dotted...so, collapsed nodes?

Orange is...knossos/artificial nodes?

edit: oops missed that last sentence.

Mission one is beeing in progress of developing atm. This time, I will not aim at long exhausting campaign, but will cut it short... maybe 6 missions? Furthermore, this one should answer most of the fog, as it will be explaning how Venice got its bristling technology in the first place. (Or at least I aim at doing so).

No big speaches on how epic it will be. Time will show how this will end up.

Two minor questions:

1-Obviously the grey line from Delta Serpentis goes to Sol, but what system does that straight up line from DS go to?

2-Not asking for plot spoilers right now, but in the second part of VM will we find out what exactly this "Star Alliance" is (who it's made up of, what kind of government it is, etc.)?

Beta Aquilae, according to the :v: nodemap, which this is an extension of (you can match up the Ross128 <-> Dubhe section exactly)

Though it seems TheHound made the node map "toroidal" in that Dubhe wraps all the way back around to Adhara...interesting.

Some clarification about the Star Alliance.

As of the end of VM1, the Star Alliance now controls Adhara and Laramis. Adhara covertly funded the LSR rebellion with the cool new ships and weapons you saw during VM1. When the LSR had almost lost the war, the Adhara government showed its hand and sent the Venice to bail out the LSR. Around that time, the Adharans officially formed the Star Alliance, which the battered Laramis happily joined.

Future fluff details will wait for TheHound's further explanation.

Basicly I extended this one:

Yep, it goes to Beta-Aquile, but the name was too big to place it there without making map ugly.

Thats pretty much speaking basicly. But actually all systems beyond Laramis all the way to Adhara are under Star Alliance control, since they are basicly border systems, and by beeing cut off from GTVA my Laramis revolt, they join up LSR, but since they are not so developed, they are only resource and supply support. (RNI-Shipyards are located in Laramis).

As for the goverment, they are pretty much old NTF member controlled council, with big minds running the ropes. But not as arrogant and blind as General Assembly is. With all the technological advantage, they end up beeing superior of GTVA. (using forgotten GTI and NTF research).

Their future focus is exploring new systems, and research. They rather not wanting to do have anything common with GTVA, and keep to themselves.

Dubhe is connected to Adhara via Knossos. It allows Adhara do support LSR without the need to even aware GTVA of this.
Actually there is a Star Alliance Hidden Shipyard in newly settled system of Epsilon Erdani, supporting LSR from shadows.

Any other questions, im happy to answer

Hello all. In case anyone was even intrested in this.

Did a Windows 10 upgrade recently, and my FS2 Backup went rouge. Completly nothing remained of my work that was up to date.

Kind of crushing experience. Managed to salvage what scattered files sent to friends i could (to test out things/boast) so VM2 and my latest campaign idea Aegis Desire bits is all I have been left with.

Get an FTP or an SVN or some kind of offsite backup!
