How does one position a wing of fighters in side a hanger (ie: Raynor, Orion, etc.) for launching purposes. What do I need to do for a realistic effect (like the nebula mission where you launch off the Aquitane)?:sigh:

Go in to the Wing Editor, and you'll see an arrival cue section. There's a drop down menu that allows you to choose from "Hyperspace", "Docking bay", "Near Ship", "in front of ship".
Choose "Docking bay"
Then you can choose what ship to launch from under the Target, drop down menu just below the one you just used.
:D Hope that helps

Thanks

That won`t look the way it did in "The Mystery of the Trinity" though.
The fighters in that mission didn`t actually launch from a launch bay. They were placed on one of the hecates wings.
You can`t actually do a fighter bay launch for Alpha wing. but if you place the ships close to the fighter bay you can make it look like one.

Yes you can.
Here be the proof: http://www.geocities.com/lionrampant31uk/launch.gif
This is a mission file, just rename it to .fs2 for it to work (hosting problems prevent me from uploading it as a .fs2)

in the mystery of the trinity mission, alpha only appears to launch cos the aquitane dives away from you. the effect looked cool though. caught me out first time :D
and alpha can launch from hangars, just make sure the ship isn't moving. ;7

Well you learn something new every day :) I will have a play around with that later.

Hmm. One would think that with a thread marked "Hangers", that Zeronet would have posted the first reply. :D

Most ships, especially FS1 ships, actually have a hanger deep enough to place a fighter wing into, and colissions should still work. Trouble is, I don't know if the invisible face will stop you from exiting. You just have to be VERY specific with your placings to make sure that the figters actually end up in the bay.

The invisible texture is one-sided, so it doesn't get in the way, and one can put in the "dont collide invisible" flag into the table entry to make it work the other way as well. I have a mission for PI where your wing starts off in a Typhon hangar; you have to give the wingmen the appropriate waypoints and it takes some work to get it right, but can be quite satisfying. ;)
