Title: crash when starting campaign
Post by: boeduur on July 27, 2015, 07:12:46 pm
Hi all,

Just downloaded 484.

Previous version loaded up on my computer just fine. Windows 8.1, Nvidia GTX 860m.

But now with 484, everytime i try to start a new campaign, it gets to the loading bar for the first mission, loads, and then hangs up at the image of the full loading bar.

I've tried both bundled campaigns, as well as Carver 5 for MCO.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

More specificity, because it always helps:

The loading image, once the bar fills, blinks as if it will jump to the gameplay, but then remains stuck at the loading bar.

DXDiag attached.

Thanks

Here are a few things you can try:

1. If you have dual intel/nvidia graphics, please update your graphic drivers.
2. select properties of your short cut so it shows the file name and leave a space at the end and add /gosnojoystick
3. MCO has problems with some background programs like internet browsers etc...

From the crash log:

Attempt to read from address 0x00000034 in IGDUMDIM32!

That's the driver for the Intel onboard graphics, right? That means it's trying to use the onboard graphics instead of the 3d card, and that's probably why it locks, the engine is having a problem trying to render on the not really 3d Intel chip.

Boeduur, assuming above is correct I'd try to figure out why it's not using your Nvidia 860 mobile and instead using the Intel. If you can force it to the Nvidia I bet it will work fine.
