This has been bugging me for a long time. Now Micheal Scumacher  has the 5th WC title, he has won the Hockenheim GP, crushed almost every record in existence, never aborted in the entire season, and still has no plans for retirement.
I predict that as soon Schumi  goes Senna, Montoya will become the next WC, although in a much more interesting year, if you can understand my bad use of... words in general. And from the looks of it, Schumacher  will most likely be the 6th WC in a year.
I could take all that if Ferrari were a good sports. Sure they make great cars, but look at Barrichello (sp?). He's been a Guinea pig the entire year, and when once his car does work the way it should, Ferrari orders him to pull over and give road to Schumi ,
So, are we going into Schumi  bashing, or are the vast amount of Germans in HLP going to bash me?
[edit] If we were talking about statistics, this is about the 8th thread I've started In Hard Light Main.

I have no idea what you're talking about
-
F1. As in Formula One Championship.
As usual www.formula1.com
Or just check the TV listing in 3 weeks.
-
oh well in that case.....
oh yea, doesn't really matter to me, let whoever win
-
A bummer about Barrichello having to let Schumi pass him to win the race. He's (Barrichello) a great driver, when the car is working. *don't know about the Guinea Pig bit, though. I just see the races, when I remember it's race day*
I hope Barrichello can grab the #2 spot. :)
Why would Schumi stop racing (until next season) 'just' because he's won this year's?
I think, it's better training to drive competively, than to practice the rest of the year. It's better practice. *Did that make sense?*
Also, having the all top driver's on the track is money in the bank.
Anyway, I hope to see more of Raikkonen, though. He's done quite well this season.
-
Barrichello is good, but their main pilot is Schumacher, and they stick to him. If they have to order Barrichello to let Shumacher pass so they can guarantee the championship, they will do it - it's not a good practice to the eyes of the spectators, but they see it as the best way to get Ferrari at the top of the podium. Until Schumacher is done racing, Barrichello will be a support pilot - under the team's point of view, he's not there to try to win - he's there to try to make sure Shumacher wins.
Sucks specially to us, since that way there's not a single Brazilian pilot actually competing, but it's the way the team wants it. They are losing a lot of fans with that mentality, though.
-
no ****. He (Räikkonen) would have gotten his first GP win, if it wasn't for Schumacher .
I just wish there was a worthy competitor the Schumi

Hey, look at Williams, they have publicly stated that they do not use that tactic, and look, Montoya is currently in second place overall.

Shoemaker was guranteed the championship for a good long while, noone would be able to catch up to him, but they still made the other guy let him wni. F1 is a farce.
-
And Ferrari are a bunch of cheating B@*stards. Remember i think it was the silverstone GP 2 years ago but i'm not sure. Shume got a 10 sec stop go which he did on the last lap and because his garage was past the start finish line he won the GP. This stood in court but reason able logic would dictate that because he crossed the finish line he served the penalty after the race had finished. For the courts to have not seen it this way someone must have been bribed.

You guys use too many  smilies. You guys really need to think about your blood pressure.
-
Yeah, settle down.... it's not life or death here.
-
There hasn't been a very intresting F1 race for a while. I think it is just the way F1 is going, all the cars are so good and there arent many places on a track to pass, so long as you start on poll position (although shumacher doesnt always) and your car doesnt break down, you can pretty much win.
Perhaps if everyone just let schumacher go round and round and win his races, we could just ignore him and watch the rest of the 21 cars have some proper racing.
-
F1 is too unbalanced.... it's unfair on the manufacturers, but they need to try and level the standard of the cars to make it a proper test of driving. Schumacher is certainly the best in the world, though.... but he's got it fairly easy because of the F2002's total superiority.

lol, i believe in carracing they're called drivers :)

I'm more of a CART person myself....
I cant believe I forgot about the Molson Indy in Vancouver on the 27th! GRAH!
Anyone know who won that? (Please say Paul Tracy, please)
-
meh, I never really enjoyed car racing, for some reason I always liked track more
-
Bring back Prost and Mansell, then it would be interesting.
Unbalanced? Absolutly.

What they should bring back, are the cars. Man, I'd just love watching Schumacher send himself spinning to a brick wall at 300 km/h in one of those death traps :drevil: ;7

Well, the start of this year's season was promising, with the big crash on the first or second GP, and stupid car breakdown can make the race interesting as well. Most of the time, when Barichello has a car problem and has to start from 22nd posiition, the race gets interesting, cuz he drives usuallly his way up to 2nd place.
on a side note, Estonia should hire better commentators, I can understand when they mess with Barichello's name, but I've heard them call Olivier Panis about everything from Panise to Penis.

In F1, they're called pilots. Don't ask me why.

Blood pressure? I'm a Ford 1998 release Trailer truck, with a funny looking duck attached to its cockpit. what blood pressure?
-
I agree also that F1 is a "bit" too unbalanced now... heck sure I would be thrilled to see Räikkönen or Salo win a season as easily as Schumacher, but not so many ones in a row... it get's too boring.
Oh the times when Häkkinen was still racing :D
Too bad he finally quit but it was the best decicion.

hehehe, same pb here, but with shumacher, believe me, the "cher" part is told in every possible manner in France
btw, Panis, it's said like Paris, but with a "n" ( so french "a", not your english "a" that's said like "è", and you said the "s", which is quite unusual in french but anyway ).

Luckily Finnish commentators are quite talented :D
Allthough Matti Kyllönen doesn't do the job any more with MTV3(sadly... he was the best), Tomi Tuominen is allmost as good.
I believe Barichello was the only name which caused a bit more discussion... at least as far as I remember
-
well, barrichello himself said that he didn't care how it was pronounced, so that really doesn't count.
-
The sport died when Prost retired and Senna lost his last competitor.
Then it was Senna's death, the last really really good pilot.
Schumacher is good, but if those 2 where still running, then he wouldn't stand a chance.
-
As it was already pointed, the main problem today are the cars. There's too much of a difference between the top teams and the rest, and it usually comes down to the best car instead of the best pilot. Give them all the same car and it'll get interesting again.
:)

Ditto.

But schumacher is still the best driver, its not just the car, he'd keep wining.
Perhaps some sort of weapon needs to be added to each car ... worked in wipeout. ;7
-
How about a Rollcage or Megarace style racing tournament? :D

no offense to you or anything, but that has got to be the stupidest thing... i just lost respect for anything to do with formula 1 racing!
"pilots"... oh my god... that has got to be the most pathetic thing in the world! i don't believe i've never heard that before... guys driving in cars that sound like mosquitos are called 'pilots'? :)
haha
too funny
yeah, well, let me go pilot my bicycle to mcdonalds...
-
If you dont like it then dont use it....duh...

-
well, the F1 race car is a aerodynamically perfect machine, filled with high-tech toys and gadgets, speeding at 250 km/h, so why not.
-
If they want to call it a pilot, go ahead. It's a bit unusual, but so what?

350 km/h my friend. And it never occured to me it was one calling them pilots ( here, drivers is only used for civilian driving their own car, everybody else is pilot ) :o
-
well, their average is somewhere near 300.

of course, it's not CART, they do have some curves sometimes :p

My thoughts exactly. :)

How about when a person drives someone else's car? :D
-
"Thief".
-
well, usually, those people are called thiefs.
-
thieves?
-
yeah, yeah, yeah, so I can't spell, so what.
-
Nothing, just making sure we're all on the same page :D

Okay.. lets get this straight... CART is pretty much the same as F1, just different cars... NASCAR is the one where they drive around in a circle...

not aerodynamically perfect, and don't they go a lot faster than 250?
sure maybe i over-exaggerated :)
it just sounds ... pathetic? that they call them 'pilots'... :D

Not sure....I think they peak at 300 kph, but their averages are - IIRC - about 150-180 during a race.
Incidentally, 'pilot' is probably the right name for an F1 driver. Because the cars would actually take off were it not from the downforce off of the wings.
And it's a little unfair to compare Fangio, Prost, Senna etc with Schumacher when they raced in different eras....
-
the average of Micheal Schumacher in Hockenheim was 209 km/h

that was a pun
anyway, as I said, max top speed for F1 is 350, higher for the top ones ( ferrari blabla bla blabla )
-
on a totally unrelated subject, there's actually a word in French 'blablabla'.
Sorry.
-
:blah:F1... never liked it... ;)
