As the title says. Launcher freezes forever at loading build [both wxLauncher and 5.5g] and crashes after few clicks. It started when I tried to test PBR build, but today I downloaded recent nightly to test new features and I have the same issue. I tried to launch nightly from 7 december, but I guess all builds have the same issue from some time. I tried to kill stuck process of build in taskmenager... And I can't o__O [same as Cobra here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=90918.0)].
I have no idea where should I start digging for a solution. I cannot even select and launch debug :P.

Try it with your antivirus disabled.

Moved this to support, so the legions of helpful followers of this board will see it. If it's a code bug we can move it to the SCP main forum :)

It's that all? Is that simple :D?
I added exception for Avast and it solved the problem.
What exactly causes this?
-
Selecting the build in the launcher causes it to silently try running it (with a special command-line flag to make it generate a file that tells the launcher all the command-line options that specific build supports, which it uses to populate the advanced settings menu); your Avast! decided that this was suspicious behavior and was probably causing the launcher to stop responding and look as though it had frozen.

I had the same problem with Avast, after installing Windows 10. I can now run nightly builds, but still can't run 3.7.2 due to a different unresolved issue (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=90875.0).

Is there some particular reason you need to run 3.7.2?
-
Nah, not so far. :) I just wanted to have it ready in case some mod would not play nice with the nightly builds. All I have been playing lately though is the latest blue planet release, which of course requires a recent nightly build.

What requires 3.7.2 will work on recent nightly as well. 99% mods should.

Well, if you wanted to play JAD 2.22 or Xtreme Arcade you'd need a 3.7.2 or older build. The new shadow builds don't play nice with the custom shaders in there.
