Title: Independence Day: Resurgence
Post by: Col.Hornet on December 13, 2015, 05:07:58 pm

I must admit.... I'm a bit hyped :D I still remember when I first watched the "Independence day" when I was a small kid. And I'm looking forward for another round.  :D

it's weird that it took as long as it did for a sequel to be made. they all be ended the first movie with a "see ya next time" and it made a freight train of money.

I always thought you could tell some cool stories in a post-ID4 universe, but honestly I'm not finding this trailer all that interesting. As near as I can tell they're just making the same movie again except with shinier effects.

No Petrarchs, no stars!

Yeah, that's a pity... The cycle of life is ruthless. It would be awesome to see a new film with our beloved admiral :P

Yes this.

Seriously though, without the title and the recognizable actors, nothing about that trailer remotely hints at it being a sequel.  Might as well be Generic Summer Sci-Fi Blockbuster #47.

Ummm its got Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A Fox, Judd Hirsch and Brett Spinner back.  Will Smith is to big to do this **** now, Randy Quaid lost his marbles and Petrarch is otherwise indisposed.

Not that I think its going to elevate itself into anything great, but as far as returning cast goes its doing pretty decent.

Some shots in the trailer are nearly identical to some of the original movie. Did George Lucas direct this?

Looks ok. About as interested in this as the new Star Trek movie, which is to say a lot but really not getting my hopes up for either.

Film doesn't have to be excellent to be fun to watch ;) That goes to most of the blockbusters. Take transformers for an example. Weak plot but who cares :D? A lot of action, humour and many other things which make this movie a pure entertainment.

I expected a generic SF action thing. I got a generic SF action thing. Kinda interested in seeing this now.

It's very hard for me to suspend disbelief. So I really can't stand stupid in movies. I'm really anxious that this movie is going to ruin any connection I had with the original.

While the full cast list revealed, it's disappointing to see Melissa Rauch of The Big Bang Theory onboard. :(

Did you see the same original I did? They destroyed the aleins with a macbook.

The entire world waited to fight the aliens until the US said it was okay. . .

That was actually one of the few bits of the film that made sense. Not the macbook itself, but the idea that an alien race that works together wouldn't have even thought of anti-virus software because they don't have members of their species who are anti-social enough to write viruses just for the LULZ.

We'd already established by that point that the aliens had interfaced with Earth's satellites so they'd basically already opened the door. If they hadn't considered the fact that someone with access to their network could wreak untold havok, it's not really that hard to believe you could simply DDOS their system with all kinds of crap without ever needing to understand how their systems actually worked.

I'm not saying the film had a great plot, just that it wasn't as completely idiotic as it first appears.

And honestly I think that was a lot of the charm of the original movie.  You have modern infrastructure crippled, you have air squadrons being wiped out left and right, you have literal nukes having no effect against this alien technology, and the only way you wind up beating it is by using a jury-rigged Roswell leftover and a nerd on a Macbook.  It's your classic win by the skin of your teeth trope.  And then you look at half of the shots in this trailer, and it looks like they lifted a bunch of tech designs from Avatar or the like.  You're already losing that feeling by default.

Oh geeze. I'm with you kinda.. but they couldn't pay me to watch another Michael Bay Transformers movie. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times... ah hell... why are you all still going to see those **** movies? I quit. A fourth?! Humanity is doomed.

Honestly the trailer didn't really make me excited at all. It looked really boring to me, well until they were on the Moon. Then I was like "Huh okaaay".

Probably I'll just look up review scores or something or what people say about it and maybe I might see it, I really haven't been in a movie mood lately anyway. But I am kinda really interested in this new Star Wars movie. But honestly if its as funny and over the top as the first movie I'll probably enjoy it.

And I can hope that when the third film is announced, I bet that Melissa Rauch will be attached to it in some way.
