We live in the Second Age of Space Sims, it seems, between stuff like Enemy Starfighter, Elite Dangerous, and even the highly ridiculous Star Citizen.
So perhaps it isn't surprising that their distant cousin, the fighter sub simulator, would be coming back. A relatively underrepresented type of game, its primary standardbearer was the series that began with the Wing Commander 1/2-looking Archimedean Dynasty, continued with the WC3-looking AquaNox, and finally ended with AquaNox 2: Revelation. Other notable entries included Sub Culture (underrepresented but fun) and Subwar 2050.
AquaNox, it seems, is coming back. At least in spirit.
Go take a look. (http://store.steampowered.com/app/254370/)

I was thrilled when I read it ... then I read the name of publisher, Nordic Games doesn't exactly have a splendid track-record when it comes QA ...

There's another underwater action-RTS I've been following, inspired by Descent. The developer is looking for testers, especially within our community; send them a message and ask to join if you're interested.

I never played Aquanox (I think it's somewhere in the abyss of my Steam backlog), but it always vaguely reminded me of this obscure PC/PS1 game I played once called Tigershark (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmjJDEqbWNU). I think it was more in the StarFox/Rogue Squadron arcade tradition than a full-fledged sim, but it was still a lot of fun.

Given how many space sims feel like they actually take place underwater, it's not surprising for there to be crossbleed. I'm all for it!

I almost went through a whole playthrough of Archimedean Dynasty. Fun, fully branching campaigns annoy me a little though, since I'm wondering what the game would be like if I picked other options.
