To all the Great Renders of this mighty Community:
Before U is a humble man beeseeching entrance into elite and esoteric world. I offer my soul and all the money I have in my pocket (two whole cents!!:D).
Actually, to all renderers please help a render noobie in need. What programs are best and why? Also give advice or tips here. I'm sure several people are dieing (is that right? it doesn't seem right :ignores it:) to know.
-
Yes, I'm dying to know too! I would've even posted a topic on it the other day except our forum problems made it dissapear...:mad:

The cheapest way to get started in rendering would be to use a free program like FSView, and copy+paste the images into Paint.
Of course, there's always old versions of Truespace, which is a rendering/modelling program, around. I've lost the link, but they're free (and legal).
It all depends on what you plan to do with rendering. If you want to do snazzy special effects, truespace won't cut it. You'd need a professional rendering program. I use Lightwave, since I found it to be my favourite. However, if you want to get professional programs, you'll either have to massively expand that two cents in your pocket, or get to be a very illegal person (I say no more).

+ blender, which is a "real" 3d-modelling program. At least it beats TS2.
-
Yeah, coz blender is a great rendering tool.
:wtf::doubt:
-
Truespace 3SE - free on coverdisks
-
TS-SE's can't save scenes or objects or renders.
You'd be reduced to rendering and taking screen caps, then losing the scene when you closed TS.
-
Come work for Utopia, Inc. and I can get you set up with a very nice abandonware Ray Dream suite. It's not quite as nice as LightWave, but it's better than most anything else on the market.

Thanks. I think I've cleared off most of the crappy parts of the page, now, and replaced them with better stuff, so that it at least works.
