I have a rpoblem with .anibuilder. When I make .pcx files to use (with the 0000crap behind it), it works fine. Then when I open up .anibuilder and try to make an .ani. It doesn't work. It gives me some error saying that it has to be 8 bits per pixel. Since I have no other program, I'm using paint, and I don't want to spend a load of money just to MOD freespace. I'm not sure if using paint has any effect on it.

you making icons?
-
You need to save it as a 256-color file. ;)
-
How do you get it to a .pcx file though?
-
I got it to a .pcx files. i used Printmaster. But it saved the .pcx files about 1/5th of the size of the original 256 .bmp file. Needless to say this looks weird in the loadout screen.

What we really need (or I do anyway :) ) is complete walkthroughs of how to make different things, such as icons for example.
Now that I've said that, someone is probably going to tell me there already is something like that.

Well, I suppose I could write one, but it probably would be of no use to you, since I use Corel PhotoPaint, part of the CorelDRAW suite, which is the graphics program suite uber alles, and therefore very costly.
-
I'm hoping to get that soon.

Like it says in the E-Mail I just sent you, ACANI is a lot easier to use, the pcx. files need to be in 256 colours and have the same palette. I use PSP7 for all my needs. I have the 60 day evaluation, so I just re-install it every two months, hehe.

I got it to work. I just save it as a 256 color bitmap. Then open up Printmaster, change them to .pcx files. Then anibuilder woks fine
