I've played Blue Planet acts 1 and 2, and I've read Morrigan in Shadow and that was incredible (reading will have to take place of playing since I just can't get into it if there's no voice acting).
NOW WHAT?!?
This is more legit than Freespace 3.
-
Well you'll just have to wait and see.
By the way you can play the un-voiced parts with your computer speaking the lines, I strongly recommend you do as those missions are awesome.
-
I will say that BP3 branches off a different ending from Morrigan in Shadow, because in BP proper the cosmology is slightly different and you've got Vishnans and Vasudans to account for.
-
NOW WHAT?!?
Patience is a virtue ...

i've been privy to some pretty sensitive information in my time and i'll tell you this: you're not going to BELIEVE who wins the alliance-federation peace dance-off

Is it the king of all Oompa-Loompas?
-
No, it's alpha one. Come on, that was so easy even I was able to figure it out.
-
How does it end??
It doesn't. (Yet) :P
-
If **** ain't happening we will talk about posting a thrilling forum fic to wrap it all up.
-
Project Shambhala coincides with a GTA-run recon op into (theoretically) Vishnan-controlled territory, wherein LaPorte and company learn they are actually autonomous personas in a simulated reality.
-
To speculate on the answer to that, I'm reasonably certain the UEF has doomed humanity, assuming the GTVA hadn't taken care of that already. We kinda missed our ticket to being useful, just like all those other guys that got wiped out.
-
How will it end? In Fire (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_jNklBqVCA&index=13) :P
-
With you wanting more.

"It's impossible, Simms!" cries Noemi. "No one can match the dance moves of Steele's Serkr Team!"
All hope seems lost. Once more, Admiral Steele has calculated victory, snatched from the jaws of improbability.
A voice rings out. It's gloating tones are familiar to Noemi although she's not sure from when or where. But it's an impossible champion for an improbable challenge.
"Noemi, you're so stupid - it's me, your brother."

Ricardo's movements like an amorphous blob of ants both black and red both intertwined towards the common goal, the macarena.
Also Shamballa is a giant speaker system that uses quantum pulses to play the music directly into your very brain.

I don't speak often on these forums. But I remain very much invested in the story of Blue Planet and where it ends up. Not to mention the gameplay really is something else.

Bleh. No thank you. I can't take anything seriously with Microsoft Samantha saying it.
Having no voice acting never bothered me that much; I'm a very fast reader so I can just glance at the text and go back to flying.
-
I think Freespace uses MS Anna though. And yeah, BP even puts the text right in the middle so it's easier to read and if you miss something you can always just read the log.
-
I wish I could get past my need for VA but for me it's half the experience, especially when it's very well done like in WiH.

Given the big spaces between releases, I appreciate the team doling out small bits of lore and facts to keep fans engaged.
In particular, I enjoyed the strengths and weaknesses of both the cosmic horror Shivans and Vishnans, and how the GTVA and UEF have different views about how to "win". Which at this point seems likely to be some kind of middle ground between force and determining the "role" of humanity in the future of the cosmos.
The Vishnans, while powerful with both their ability to influence minds, and their technology, have hit, according to tech logs, a point of maximum efficiency and power.
The Shivans go to great pains to avoid "intelligence" as we understand, while still having long term goals and plans. Their weapons and tactics are adaptive, and resources seemingly infinite, but they can still be disrupted. However painful losing Earth was, I don't think the Shivans ever "expected" to lose a scouting fleeting. And while the Shivans were focused on destroying Capella, the fact that their fleet was held back and trapped there I don't believe was part of their plan. They can absorb these losses yes, but the very fact they can lose means there are, quantumly, universes in which they fail to achieve their goals.
However badly the GTVA is outgunned, the fact that Shivans still have goals and limitations to me means they can be frustrated and stymied.
Shivans are, as we know from Freespace, still dependent on subspace to access human and Vasudan systems. Other wise, at sub light speeds, it would take millions of years to hunt down and exterminate each colony of life they deemed "unworthy". What kind of advancement would a human, or human-vasudan culture achieve with that kind of time?
These are mostly just musings, and not a prophetic declaration of where the story will go. But a universe with two races with godlike delusions of designs for the "lesser" races of the galaxy must be communicated with a language of violence.
Shivans and Vishnans aren't enemies you can "simply" defeat, perhaps if their ultimate goals include some positives, they can even be reasoned with to an extent.
But simply cowering and waiting for them to conduct their likely harmful plans unopposed is unacceptable, the stakes are too high for there not to be resistance. And that resistance I believe is what is going to form the core of BP3. A declaration that the UEF/GTVA is too valuable to their plans to wipe out wholesale (either as killers or builders), too frustratingly resistant to their influence to directly control.

Please, I'm dying, call 911 and tell them I need 10 CCs of Act 4, stat!

I swear, I played WiH 5 years ago and there are still neurons in my head permanently dedicated to remembering its awesomeness :).

WAIT I FIGURED IT OUT! SHAMBALA IS THE HUMAN INSTRUMENTALITY PROJECT FROM EVANGELION

WAIT I FIGURED IT OUT! SHAMBALA IS THE HUMAN INSTRUMENTALITY PROJECT FROM EVANGELION
The Shivans and the Vishnans each only count as one Angel. There are at least ten more to go.
Good luck, pilot.

If this ends with a Giant Naked Laporte, I'm out of here.

It'd be a happy ending for Simms

... play act 3?
Maybe my grandchildren will

Just finished playing BP "Complete" for the first time. I thought complete meant it was a finished thing, not something with another cliffhanger at the end :'(
I think the waiting here is gonna be harder than waiting on Game of Thrones every year. Goddamnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
-
Which does raise the question, what will they call it when they do release the finished campaign? BP super complete?
-
It'll still be BP Complete - all the released Blue Planet content in one package!
-
Yeah, but what will we call it to differentiate it from the current BP Complete?
Although... past experience says we'll probably just call it "the new BP Complete" because we're lazy like that.
-
I suppose you guys could go with the Street Fighter style of naming conventions. Blue Planet Complete PLUS, BP Turbo, Ultra Blue Planet etc.
-
Super Blue Planet Complete Turbo HD Remix
-
Seriously though, I expect either "BP Complete Ver.2" or perhaps take cues from the MediaVP team and go with "BP Complete 2019" or something like that.
Hopefully my year estimate is conservative.
-
It's gonna be called Blue Planet forever
-
Blue Planet Ultimate Ricardo edition :pimp:
-
Blue Planet Complete Electric Boogaloo.
Have you forgotten that Axem is part of the team?
-
Yeah I think you should all defer to Axem for code name and official name attribution.
-
Eh. I didn't forget.
