I've been trying to get my scp to launch with wxlauncher. I've used several versions of fs2 including 3.7.2 to no avail. All I get is a black screen, which kills when i hit escape. How can I fix this? :banghead:

ERROR:
Web cursor bitmap not found. This is most likely due to one of three reasons:
1) You're running FreeSpace Open from somewhere other than your FreeSpace 2 folder;
2) You've somehow corrupted your FreeSpace 2 installation, e.g. by modifying or removing the retail VP files;
3) You haven't installed FreeSpace 2 at all. (Note that installing FreeSpace Open does NOT remove the need for a FreeSpace 2 installation.)
Number 1 can be fixed by simply moving the FreeSpace Open executable file to the FreeSpace 2 folder. Numbers 2 and 3 can be fixed by installing or reinstalling FreeSpace 2.

Do you own FreeSpace 2, and if yes, do you have it installed?
-
I do. In fact, I now know what the problem was. I had my fs2 folder in a folder within the scp folders. This apparently made it inaccessible to the scp executables. So I moved all the fs2 files into the same folder as all the scp executables and the mods. This solved virually all of my problems. I appreciate your willingness to help, Mr. E.

Also, FYI, 3.7.2 is now outdated; you might want to try 3.7.4 RC2 (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=91978.0) instead.
-
What are the advantages of running the newer version vs 3.7.2
-
For one, some of the mods out there are incompatible with it. Secondly, it's going to be more stable and offer a few more features that 3.7.2 simply doesn't have (like, for example, working shadowing).
