Title: Freespace Port Issues
Post by: ChazDon on July 28, 2016, 10:18:05 pm
I recently installed and got working FSO manually (not using installer) and works like a charm and looks great! Now I moved to get Freespace Port working, and I just cannot get it working properly to save my life. I've followed the manual downloads and installation instructions at http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=89121.0 and the game runs, but it's all the old textures and no voices. I'm sure it's just one simple step I'm missing but after 8 hours I feel just defeated and have no idea what I've done that is wrong, if anyone can help me with some basic troubleshooting idea's I'm all ears.

Again, FSPort will run but without updated textures (just original textures) and no voices in game or during breifing.

Thanks for any and all replies.

Sounds like something is wrong with your MediaVPs setup. Post a log (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.msg1180359#msg1180359) and we'll take a look.

The FSPort voice files have been removed (except for ST:R, naturally). Now that FS1 is being sold legally again and just about everything else isn't a direct rip from FS1, it's not exactly ethical or legal to basically give the full game away for free now. You need to pull the VP from an existing installation of FS1 now.

The mod installation is a little convoluted, though. You need the FSPort mediavps in the primary list field and the FSU 2014 MediaVPs in the secondary list of the mod.ini. If that doesn't work, swap them, because I can't remember the order off the top of my head. Also make sure that your folder names and the ones in the mod.ini match.

What? No. You shouldn't be editing FSPort's mod.ini file. You should be selecting the FSPort MediaVPs as the active mod.

If having multiple folders for the FSPort annoys you, there's also this repackage Hades made (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=91800.0) that could probably use some testing.

The voice files and such are still available through the installer.

Just download Silent Threat: Reborn and run it. The main FS campaign should be available in the Campaign Room and there won't be much trouble.
