Hi! I have detected an issue whenever using MediaVPs 2014 at both UHD and 4k resolution. The HUD dissapears and there is no way to make it appear.
Things I have verified and tried:
-Enable and disable "Disable high DPI scaling" for the executable of FSOpen that I use.
-Setting DPI to Normal in Windows (100%)
-Setting "Disable high DPI scaling" for all users including admin
-Pressing "Shift-O" to enable/disable HUD in-game.
I noticed than whenever I use MVPs 3612 3.5 this does not happen and the HUD shows correctly onscreen at any res including 4k.
If running at 1080p res the HUD works ok even when using MVPs 2014.
Edit: Added the log file.

Please post your fs2_open.log file. Instructions on how to do this can be found in this post.

Ok, there ya go! Added the log file in the original post.

Bump. Anyone does have any idea how to solve this?
Does anyone use MVP2014 with 2160p res and experiences the same thing as I do?
-
Huh. I don't run at that res, so I don't know; does this issue persist if you're using just the 2014 MVPs, not FSPort as well?
-
Unfortunately, there is no fix for this at the moment. FSO just doesn't like resolutions larger than 2560x1440 for some reason. I also play in 4k sometimes but the results vary based on the mods Hud Gauge table settings. It can very from completely missing to having a weird offset to appearing fine until your missile lock symbol decides to go off to nowhere in particular.
Best I can tell you is to run at 1440p for now.
-
Well, thanks for the answer. How unfortunate that 2160p is a no-go for FSO if you want the upgraded models that come with MVP 2014.
Specially since everything looks so breathtaking in such a high res(everything from the models to the space backgrounds) and something as simple as the HUD does not work. Will have to wait I guess... :(

Yes, I have tried different mods that use MVP2014 and the HUD is missing always in my case.

That's actually not true. FSO runs fine at 4K but the HUD configuration in the Media VPs isn't set up to provide a layout for that. The 3.6.12 MVPs work fine because they just scale up the layout from a smaller resolution to 4K but for some reason that doesn't work for the 2014 MVPs.

This is probably related to Mantis 3155 (http://scp.indiegames.us/mantis/view.php?id=3155), which I tried to fix.
Try using FSO 3.7.2 (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=89597.0) with the 2014 MediaVPs at 3840x2160 resolution. Does the HUD appear this time (even if it's tiny)? If so, do the targeting brackets work, even after playing for at least a minute? If the HUD is visible this time, then something must have changed between 3.7.2 and 3.7.4 that caused the HUD to disappear at 4K.

The 2014 MVP HUD table intentionally (and shortsightedly) disables HUD scaling, which should make the HUD very tiny at 4K, not make it disappear entirely.

I though that a hud gauge table could specify some sort of upper limit for a HUD configuration, I could be wrong and this is actually a bug in FSO. Sadly, I don't have a 4K monitor so I can't help you fix that bug :(

The 2014 MediaVPs' mv_root-hdg.tbm doesn't define any HUD configurations.
The ability to set a limit on how far to shrink the HUD before scaling it upwards also exists (http://hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Hud_gauges.tbl#.24Force_Scaling_Above:) (thanks, Yarn!), but was added to FSO after the 2014 MediaVPs were released.

Tried 3.7.2. HUD still missing, unfortunately

Update: I've made an issue report at Mantis.

Update: I've made an issue report at github.
http://www.hard-light.net/mantis/view.php?id=1031 (http://www.hard-light.net/mantis/view.php?id=1031).
The problem lies in the game code, not the MediaVPs, so technically that's the wrong place to report it. (And that's Mantis, not GitHub.)
-
Sorry about that... :P Where is the correct place to report it?

The preferred place to report code-related issues is the SCP GitHub repository. Here is a link to the repository's issue page: https://github.com/scp-fs2open/fs2open.github.com/issues (https://github.com/scp-fs2open/fs2open.github.com/issues)
