Cool, a nearly Lightwave-level rendering engine for $250. I don't suppose the next-to-useless interface has anything to do with it...
Still, I think it's pretty cool.

Hmm, looks kinda nice, might try the demo when I get some time.

Carrara...didn't that used to be Ray Dream Studio?

Was that program good? I once acquired an older version of that but could not do anything with it... :p (then again, I can't do much with 3DS max either, but at least I can make spheres there :D)

Yeah, Carrara is the bastardized modern-day descendant of Ray Dream, crossed with something I've never heard of and given a really strange interface. Absolutely for **** as far as modeling goes, in my opinion (I've met others who disagree, but they're wrong), but it's an excellent renderer and, when paired with an old copy of Ray Dream (good modeler, mediocre renderer), produces an effect like a low-budget LightWave, with an interface more like MAX.
Both have a pretty much vertical learning curve, but after about a year you get the hang of it and it's as good as MAX. Except in booleans, which MAX does really well.
