I don't know how I've missed this until now, but for some reason FRED has been unable to remember user preferences since at least early August. I've tried to run builds older than August 2nd, but they keep crashing on me.
I've opened a Mantis issue for this, but since my last bug report was fixed but no-one changed its status, I'm guessing that Mantis isn't the focus of bug-fixing anymore so a report here is the best way to get to the bottom of it. Anyone else encountered this?

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing. I think when SDL was merged, FRED builds stopped working for me at all, then there were .dlls to download, then FRED started working but was forgetful.
In addition to forgetting settings, it seems to forget if I tick the "destroy before mission" box. I edited La Ruota Della Fortuna, and when I played the mission, the "destroyed" Vasudans were all there.

Trivial Psychic, if you have a bug report on either Mantis or GitHub that needs attention, whatever its status, keep bumping it (and if necessary flag down a coder or two) and it will eventually get fixed. Both Mantis and GitHub issues are tracked in the newsletter every month.
Solatar, did you report the "destroy before mission" issue anywhere?
-
Can confirm the issue with "destroy before mission". Having to retick it every time, save the mission file, then immediately see it be ticked off again.

I didn't :nervous:. I've ended up playing with such a giant frankenmod (horrible MODing practice) I figured it was something on my end. Would Mantis or Github be the better option in the future? I play quite a bit, so I might as well start reporting bugs if I find them.

More of the SCP staff are using GitHub these days, but we monitor (or we should be monitoring) both of them.

FWIW, everybody, even though most people have stopped using Mantis, I still check it at least as often as I check the forums. So rest assured that bumping a Mantis issue will be noticed.

Yeah, but no one else is. Cause after spending the time to get people to understand Mantis we've picked a system which the average user doesn't have a clue how to use.

Question: Why has mantis stopped sending emails when someone replies to a mantis issue? I never touched the email preferences on my mantis account, but I used to get email notices when someone did basically anything to any of the issues I've reported. But now I'm looking at issues I've submitted a couple of months ago and I see coders have added notes and I've been unintentionally ignoring them because I didn't get a heads up.
-
It may have been broken in one of the Mantis updates and there simply hasn't been enough activity for the problem to get chased down.
-
I'll ping chief1983. He handled the upgrade and he might be able to figure out why email isn't working.
-
:bump:
Any good news on this one?
-
Incredible, I received emails. Notifications about notes added 4 months ago.

I just got an e-mail from where I reset my SCP Mantis password a few weeks ago. Now I can get in.
e: I put more information about the "destroy before mission" bug on a Mantis ticket. I'm still trying to pin down exactly which nightly started the behavior, but it definitely works in 3.7.4.
