Title: Blue Planet Complete, installation problems
Post by: Gedgehog on November 27, 2016, 01:07:34 pm
Hi Guys,

back in 2010, I played trough Blue Planet Age of Aquarius: Directors Cut and absolutely loved it. From the music to the beautiful high-quality models of the ships. I decided this week to pick up a copy of Freespace 2 from Steam and give it a whirl again.

However, I'm concerned I've done something wrong - I've installed Blue Planet Complete from the downloadable installer, but when I load the game up, the models look noticeably different from the Directors Cut. The models aren't as lit up, shiny, and look slightly lower quality.
I know this isn't a problem with the game or the models as they were built, but with my installation! I've also been having trouble with the launcher not saving my graphics settings - the game also loads in a much lower resolution than my native monitor.

Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated!

Try running the launcher as an administrator and/or enabling the (IIRC) "Use alternate registry path" option. If neither of those fix the issue, please post your fs2_open.log file.  Instructions on how to do this can be found in this post.
