I've finally posted some pics of my reskinned cruisers. You will have to copy and paste the address of each pic though (Geocities (http://geocities.yahoo.com) )
Firstly, I reskinned the Leviathan and modified the engines to emit less light (displaying that they have less engine power than a Fenris):

Next, I reskinned the Lilith to present a more evil threat than the Cain:

Finally, I reskinned the Aten and modified the pof to give it guns. I changed the table entry and called it a gun boat. It has several forward facing gunpoints and missile banks that can hold a very high bomb capacity:

I took a screenshot of the Riviera Station in the FS1 into cutscene. Isn't she pretty?:

nice!

Good work :)
I personally prefer my own upgraded Aten, (ph34r its SVas beams) but eh, its an interesting conversion.
I also like what you did with the Lev, it does give it the look of extra armor plating in comparison to the Fenris.

Thanks. That's what I was trying to do with the skin of the Leviathan - make it look more armoured. Thanks.

make it darker

That Aten looks cool, like some huge 133t oversized fighter! Imagine a wing of them charging down a wing of Seraphim!
BTW, you could give it bomber AI and make it a player ship!

The white armor on the Leviathan looks funny at first, but I think it would actually not be that bad. If anything you should decrease that contrast, though, lighter or darker. I favor lightening the darker parts.
The Lilith doesn't look too much different to me; can we get a picture of it next to a Cain, for comparison?
As for the Aten gunboat: :yes2::) I like the look. Not practical as a player ship but an excellent gunboat. With the addition of gun hardpoints, I hope you took out the beam cannons.

Agreed.

Thanks. I've done that. It's manaeuverability is very poor, but it handles good enough. I can't win a dogfight. Well it can if you're a good pilot and get in the right position.

After the first glance and initial huh, it fits in pretty good in the game.

It's actually a lot different. I'll get a comparison soon. It looks more FS2 than FS1.

Yes, I removed two of the turrets (just in case it crashed the game - too many subsystems for a player ship). The remaining turrets are just ordinary pulse turrets. Oh, and I gave it shields.

Did you give it missiles also? And how many guns did you give it? It would be great if you could shrink the model so its fighter-sized, and them launching from a Typhon or Hapshepsut.

Sure did. It the pic you can see two cyclops launching from the second secondary bank (the lights at the top). I think I gave it 2 primaries (x6), so a total of 12 points.
I can't model things, so the shrinkage is out of the question.
I made two 'new' ships the other day. Well, just modifications of an existing model. Firstly I removed all the turret points off of the Orion and made the texture for the turrets invisible (cos I don't know how to remove objects from a model). Next I modified the textures of the Orion, using the TC-TRI cargo texture and changed the name plate to read Under Construction. I removed teh weapons subsystem and made a couple of other changes (updated the table to reflect a ship that's under construction). The result: It works really great in that shipyard mission. I think it really looks like it's under construction. About 90-95% complete. I also did the same with the Hecate.

Don't mean to shoot down all your work, but what happens if the player shoots a turret? Doesn't it look strange?

Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention that I added the "dont collide invisible" tag into the table. So this would never happen. Plus I removed the turret subsystems from the table, so you can't target them either. Thanks for pointing that out.

dont collide invisible is ace! It lets you fly around inside teh fighterbays of the ships, I love launching form a typhon.
