Hi,
I recently helped a friend install FSO. For some reason, all of his radar icons are missing. No wingmen, no enemies, even the radar range that should be in the bottom right is not showing. After some debugging, I thought maybe his MV_RadarIcons was corrupt, so we did a completely fresh install of the game and FSO. Even in vanilla fs2 the issue still remains. Any help would be appreciated.

Radar Icons are an optional feature that are only present if MV_RadarIcons is in the mediavps directory and the mediavps are enabled as the active mod, which is not the case in the logs you posted.
-
Wouldn't the dots and the radar range still be present even if MV_RadarIcons isn't present? From the original game?
-
He's saying there isn't anything on his radar, not blips, not even the range indicator.
EDIT - ninja'd

Oh, Right, sorry.
So I did a little digging, and the logs show that the engine crashes while trying to draw the radar range icon due to the radar range being set to an invalid value, which indicates pilot file corruption of some sort. Please create a new pilot and see if that fixes things.

Ahh now it makes sense. I think he might have created the pilot in vanilla fs2 before I told him how to launch the game through wxlauncher/fso. Check back on this later, but I imagine that will fix it. I had some of the same issues years ago when I first played blue planet. Different pilots for different mods.
Thanks a bunch!

Different pilots for different mods.
That hasn't been needed since FSO 3.7.0, which contained new pilot file code. Based on your description, it sounds like a bug in the pilot conversion code.
...Actually, I didn't know FSO still had the capability of converting retail pilots. Good to know.
