Title: Now I call this blackmail
Post by: Nico on July 13, 2001, 04:25:00 pm
And I'll make you drool to accept it   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
Ok, why Blackmail? Coz if you want to see the other models I've made of the same quality, and if you want to know what is this one for, well, go and read my Descent Campaign thread in the general freespace forum   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
Then I need some mission designers to help raven finish this Descent campaign, I want to get rid of it before the end of the month   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

(Oh, btw, Bobboau, it's my turn to challenge you: I think this one is my best model so far, I challenge you to put a pic of the model you think is your best one   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) )

No, seriously, I really need help for my descent campaign. Apart from the indoor structures ( 7 I think )and a specific scenery object, the mod part is done, I'll jsut wait till sunday, and if I don't have the new skins from Darkage then, I'll declare the modding part over. I want to  get rid of it as soon as possible, coz my next project (in which will be featured the fighter above, I suppose you got it) is way more interesting and challenging.
Btw, this ship is called the Ezechiel and that's an interceptor. Its map (only one yeah!) needs little more work only some touch up (around the cockpit mainly), otherwise it's 100% done (lods and debris -my first debris  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)-)

nope, it's ok, I tested models with more polys, and to be sure, I put the max number of ships allowed in the mission. there's a slowdown at the begining of the mission, that's about all.
Anyway, I may reduce the polycount of the weapon pods, they don't need to be so detailled.
plus lods are here for that   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

edit: talking of lods, I've found a way out  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif). I've added a new lod, it's the same than the main one, but without those weapon pods, and it will appear very close from the player ship. polycount without the gunpods: 552 (much better no?)

well I think my best work was for the Dark Breed campain,
and as DB is dead and I always hate how noone gets to
see anything while a campaing is in work so here ("http://members.home.net/bobboau/stuff/db.zip") are all
the ships I got near done for DB

the Corybant I think is the best though it needs some tweaking int the mid section

Satyr is a powerfull bomber\gunship, the big thing on the botom is a beam turret.

Attis is a fast and furrious bomber

Silenus is a heavy fighter.

and the Odin is a tarren super destroyer\carrier,
this is the least complete model in this grupe,
it has some presision issues to be fixed.

and I also think the neptune is one of my better peices of work,
but I asume you meant unseen work.

My latest playing around with FS modelling, the (as yet unskinned) Wasp-E gunship.  Hull poly count is a hair over 500 in 3ds, so that should reduce a bit.

Yeah, bobboau, the fighters look very Shivan (the skin makes them look a bit Vasudan). And that Odin thingy is one of the best capships I've seen yet.

Great work, as always  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

they were from a terren\vasudan cult type thing, the last remnants of the HOL and someother grupes got together and decided to bring the end of the world.they were operating in a secretive part of the GTVI and several military contracters, in the system beond lyten. They were going to use a virus type thing to sort of asimalate the entire GTVA into a shivan style colective (not borg style, I was going to show the diference), but the people that were going to help me didn't do squat so it died.

the odin was a super carier that you were going to be stationed on, it uses the latest technology in knossos based jumpdrives and new beams ect ect.

and that fighter you posted is prety good but I think the banshe was better,
the fins don't look right and  you did a better texturing job on the banshe also.

well, as one would say, tastes... I think I did a much better mapping job on this one (compared to the banshee wich uses I think 5 maps -don't bother to check-, this one uses only one... )
And I love the design more too, simply coz the banshee... well... who has never seen the same design elsewhere? I can't count how many comics, movies and so on have that kind of ship. For me, the ezechiel is definitively my best model and my best design ( so far  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) , wait to see the Gaia and so on  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif))
can't wait to d/l it, delta? Well anyway you'l have to, coz I'll definitively won't release anything before I've done some work on the campain, and I won't work a lot on it before that descent campaign is done...
That's sad, but that's the way it is. If I can't find anybody to help me for just a test campaign (that's my first one, and kindda a test campaign), I don't see why I would rush to make anything else...

I don't need mission testers, avenger, I need mission designers, I have already Raven to help me, but hell, I can't ask him to do 25 missions on his own.

Ezechiel is the french way it's written, you can't blame me for writting it this way, I suppose.
Btw, could someone throw away names from the bible that finish by "iel" or "el"? It would be ...hmmm... funny that I pick names from Diablo  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) (Tyrael, Duriel, Andariel )
Mmh, I'd need at least angel names from the bible (good for a "end of the world" mood, no?)
Title: Now I call this blackmail
Post by: Sandwich on July 15, 2001, 05:07:00 pm
Angel names:
Michael (that's my real name...  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)), Gabriel, ummm.... what else... can't remember any more for now...

Other "-el" names can be found and even made up in abundance. The "El" suffix in Hebrew means God. For example, my name, Michael, means "Who is like God". So basically, since I know Hebrew, I could make up names that mean more or less whatever you want.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
