Title: Subspace Drive Recharge Time
Post by: Pegasus V on August 15, 2002, 12:59:29 am
In the mission where the NTF is jumping into Gamma Draconis, Command says that the ships have to wait a while to recharge their subspace drive before making the jump to the rallying point. I had a look at warp-out cues in the mission and calculated the approximate recharge time. I wrote it all down at home, but I haven't got the correct stats here. But they're all about 45-60 seconds. Almost each class of ship had the same time each, except for two ships, which had about 5 second difference.

how do they work?  Do we enter subspace via electromagnetic rifts, something along the lines of "the philadelphia experiment"?  If so, i could see a definate recharge time that would be pretty much straightforward,  but progressive, depending on the EM "size" of the object we are trying to move.  Of course if it uses some other form of energy to open a node, then ignore this thread.

It has to do with vibration (Makes you wonder how they dicovered it in the first place;7). As I understand it, subspace has an exact vibrational frequency, and if you can match that, boom, you're in.

Or at least it'd better be like that, or 99% of the TI technobable I've written is effectively useless. :headz: (quiet protest).

So essentially all you need is a big enough vibrator and you are set to travel the stars ;7
