Title: For all those with results today...
Post by: Kellan on August 15, 2002, 03:30:43 am
...Good Luck.

Oh, and post your grades here if you want so that we can congratulate/berate/console you. :D

(For all those not in the UK, it's A-Level results day today - the final grades we get before University or work.)

Oh yeah. Do we have to go down to pic 'em up or do they let us phone?

Well my college wants us to either go in and pick them up - or if that isn't possible they mail them to you first class after the day is over. It might be different for other people though.

And yeah, good luck everyone - I'll be drowning my sorrows tonight no doubt :)

What are you talking about? I'm from Australia, that might explain my confusion.

Exam results, those of us who are in the UK get ours today... the UK education system runs thus:

Nursery > School > College > University (Or out into the work place).

College is typically for 16-18 year olds, which is what I'm in now. There are two exams during this time - AS and A levels, AS is half an A Level, and all the courses we do are/can be split into two - so you can drop a course after only one year and only have an AS result in it - continuing it to the second year means that you'll have an A level in it... don't worry if you don't get this, it confused the hell out of me when I first heard about it ;)

And depending on what AS/A level results you get it determines what universities you can apply for and so on - so the better you do the more oppertunities you get.

Suffice to say, it means a lot - wether it's AS or A level results.

He means that how the English system runs.

Scotland uses Highers/SYS rather than A-Levels. Highers have less content than A-levels, but we do more of them.

*sits back down quietly*

Is Scotland different? Sorry I thought it was the same system for all of Britain, heh... you learn a new thing every day.
