Okey dokey, here's some conundrums to tax the FRED vets out there.
1. So I fixed the engine thing I was *****ing about t'other day, and got the mission working. Well, more or less. Anyways, the next mission is a red alert job, and is set in subsapce. Trouble is, when the mission starts, I'm sat in the subspace corridor with no subsyetms working and nothing on the ship responds. My wingmen appear on the wingman monitor, but I can't see them cos I have no sensors, and my Argo transports aren't there. Now, I know I have to check 'red alert carry status' in the ships stats of the first mission, and the 'red alert' box in the second mission's specs, but that's about it. Ideas?
2. This is not so much a problem as an annoyance - I had planned to have an 'incomming transmission' instead of a briefing for the second mission, but I realised as I tested that without using the 'red-alert' SEXP to end the mission before the player warps out, the game will go to astandard debrief screen. Can anybody see a way around this, so that the player warps out as usual but a successful mission takes you to the 'incomming transmission; screen instead of the debrief? Perhaps it can't be done, but this is fairly a arcane part of modding and not my forte.

Isn't there a "subspace engaged" sexp or something, so that you could trigger the red alert status after alt-j has been pressed but before you actually leave the mission? It seems like something of this nature has been done before. You may check the next to last FS mission, or the beacon missions in Derelict to see if it is used there and how.

Wasn't Derelict done in such a way that pressing Alt-J still BEGAN the warp-out but also triggered an expression that went to red-alert?

Previous two posts = good point.
I shall perform an imperiment forthwith.

I`ve used
When
-Key Pressed
--Alt J
--4
-Red alert
before and it worked. You may have to alter the time though.

I had the same thing as no 1 happen to me, lol, except that I had just finished playing derelict, so I was in an artemis...it was funny...
