Title: The GTCa Warlock
Post by: aldo_14 on July 13, 2001, 02:20:00 pm
The resumption of a massive carrier I have been working on... 4800m long, 100+ fighters, 40 turrets.  I have the first pof veriosn ready, although LOD4 has been omitted due to a problem with the conversion.

"Well I believe ther's someone watching over you.  They're watching every word you say. And when you die they'll take you down and take you through. You'll realise one day that the grass is always greener on the other side, the neighbours got a car that you wanna drive, and when time is running out you wanna stay alive.  There is no wrong, there is no right, and the circle only has one side...."

The design is great, but I think the map could be less tiled?
Anyway I love this design  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I like heavily tiled - I think it gives a better impression of scale.  Not a lot of people tend agree with me, though.

I really like the size and shape of this ship (looks like a carrier) and the two hangars on either side... very nice.

Can't wait to fly with this thing (or against it).

Joe.

Actually, the hanger's on the underside.... I used to have big flak turrets on the ledges at those sides, but they shown through the hull.

I've fixed the image that shows the fighterbay proper.... although I might add another 2 of them at those side points if possible.

At least three thumbs up. Looks awesome.

I personally don't mind the tiling too much- You're right, for using the same size of map, you can get a better sense of size and scale.

Wow!  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/eek.gif) Excellent design for a carrier!  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/eek.gif) Those nebs you put with them are pretty, too.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Oh riiigggghhhttt...  2377 it's set in, although i might alter that a bit to 20 years after Capella (which I think was 2363 - I had the date originally down as 2357, but that's def wrong)

  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/rolleyes.gif)  Wassat?

Not a planet killer design though -  all planet killers tend to have a design geared towrds a massive weapon (norm on the front)

I dunno... smack a spinal tube beam on that, and you'll have something not totally un-planetkillerlike  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

Hmm... never seen those before.
Oh, yeah.. did the turret data   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif), although FSMM2 screwed up my path data earlier   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

Anyway, provisional armament is;

12 Pulse laser turrets (ultra heavy turret laser)
1 BFWhite (BFRed derivative)
4 BFGreen (May be downgraded after testing)
4 Vslash
10 AAAf
6 Heavy Flak

Still to test using this loadout, so the BFGreens may be downgraded.
