Title: 3ds exporting query?
Post by: aldo_14 on August 19, 2002, 04:03:05 pm
Just wondering.... does anyone know of a way to get Max to preserve the entire name of the texture file when exporting to 3ds format.... when it exports to the 8 bit names it sort of complicates conversion for me.  I'm using r4.  cheers :)

not possible: .3ds is a dos format and won't read long names for maps.

maybe the .XSI plugin for MAX could be of use(?).

Bah... i really need something that I can import into TS.... I have saved some 3ds files into cob with 3d exploration, but I've got a nasty feeling it's screwed up the subobjects (turrets, et al) attached to the model :(
