I've created flat "surfaces" that look 3 dimensional. I basically use it for atmospheres but I think it all depends on what you're looking for... please enlighten me. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

One with a atmosphere affect would be great, i'm looking for one that when u see it you'd say thats a planet, not a round space ship (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I'll see what I can do... what planet in particular are you looking for?

*bump*
Nevermind that it's on top already. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
I want a full-size planet too!

Supply me with the flat bitmaps and I can do them. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

just something BIG, i would like to know if it is possible to create a planet that the surface appear flat but the whole thing is round, like see the earth from low orbit. i know that i'm talkin BIG but you think you can make a one that FS2 can handle?
BTW, whats ur email?

Check this ("http://jgmart.tripod.com/earth_01.zip") out. I haven't tested it but it should work good. it's 60 km in all dimensions (big enough?) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Thats no bigger than one of the ones i have already, sorry, need something atlest 3 times as big like possibly a diameter of 180 KM or more nice texture though (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Actually, I know of no bigger ones. The ones made a long time ago were 32000 in all dimensions. I'll try 180km out though. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Edit: Package updated. Redownload it to give it a try. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

thats a lot better, kinda jagged though but who cares, hey how big can you make this thing anywayz? the bigger the better (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I don't think there is a limit to size. I'll work on getting the planet to it's life like size.
It's now at life like size! (12,753 km diameter!!!) The texture doesn't look too well. Here's a picture of it from 9999999 meters away.
jgmart.tripod.com/bigearth.jpg
It doesn't take up too much memory (at least i don't think so) and it took a little while for the mission to load.

Open any planet opf in segeltuch and resize it, that's what I did with Darks planets and it works just fine (the only thing that works fine in segel, for me... )

The only thing I find good about segeltuch is the shield generator and vertex coordinate-getter. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

yeah! thanx man (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
hum...now all i need is to make a Beam for one of my Pks to destroy it (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Well... I like to skin ships in it... Works real good for moving textures.

Of course, this is before you put any other POF data in, right? I've experienced bad POF output which could corrupt some data. I think the model output in particular behaves just like cob2fs2. If you've done tests then you know that PCS puts out bigger POFs than cob2fs2, and that's a good thing because PCS touches on more model data and can prevent the ship to be "flown through". I don't use cob2fs2 anymore unless I'm doing a fighter or non-turreted bomber because PCS doesn't accept non-grouped objects.

Yeah, before doing real work. Because all of the other data is deleted. Eye ponts, dock, path, etc. But thats all easy to put in later. Plus... I think the model should be textured before it is put in game anyway...
