I present to you a pirate corvette:

This ship can allways be identified by its uniqe profile. It is a highly durable corvette-class vessel that is being constructed by raiders in an unknown location. It is classified as a high threat to most light to medium civillian and millitary craft. It is used as a base of operations for most of the small pirate sects. It packs quite a punch with an oversized beam cannon on the right, and it has two different bays. The bay at the rear of the ship has been shown to mostly launch two boarding pods, and the front bay has been seen to launch between 2 and 3 wings of raider fighters. It has two anti-fighter flak turrets. each of them is located on the top and bottom of the fighter bay section.
Another ship by Analazon for his Big Secret Projectâ„¢
comments, criticizms, and a decision on where the extra polygons should go are requested :)

Is there a seperate turret subobject on the Beam prong?
-
too flat on top for my tasts. needs something to add pirate "puzazz" like uh.. racing fins :D maybe something liek racing fins to the "beam prong" too
-
I like the model. The idea is another matter though. A pirate corvette? Where on earth would the pirates be getting the resources to build something like that?
As for the model itself. Make that fin at the bottom into a point. It's a little too thick at the moment. The front seems a little blocky too but then we are dealing with pirates so I shouldn`t expect the best design teams to be at work on it :)
-
its being constructed at a nebular shipyard...but I shouldn't tell you that, now should I?
Racing fins....ok, sounds good...
Yes, the whole big gun part of it is a subobject
-
It could use an oversized sensor array, like The Millenium Falcon. I've been thinking for sometime that freespace could do with with some pirates and smugglers, in a word, scoundrels.
-
Give it some long, spikey bits to make it look more evil and shivan-esq. Pirate ships are built as much to scare the **** outta stuff as they are to loot, rape and pillage.

oooooo give it like a "Starship Raping Claw".
It gets close to another capital ship or station and the claw Rips a hole in the hull of the Ship/Instalation

Didn't somebody discuss this? People don't just wake up one day and go "Hey, let's be pirates." They're going to defect from a military unit.
Anyways, I wouldn't consider this "pirates"..more of a "crime syndicate". Pirates wouldn't have resources to build ships (and if they did, they wouldn't be pirates..they'd have way higher aspirations)
-
Pirates with big-ass ships usually get them as such: One pirate is fairly rich. He buys a frieghter. He robs a supply ship and sells the loot and his freighter. He gets a ship with some nice weapons. He uses stealth and guile to cripple a fwe bigger ships. He then launches an assault on something bigger, using his cronies in the captured ships as cannon fodder. He takes the cool new ship and butchers the crew. They use the cool new ship to butcher others and expand, constantly fitting it with more, better and more newer weapons, armour and shields.
-
crime syndicate, that sounds more like what I'm talking about... and spiky bits are in progress...
-
nah...spiky bits didn't look so good...
-
I think it needs a couple more anti-fighter turrets. :)

I think pirates start out as a group of people pissed off at something: the goverment, the universe etc. Well when you have a group of pissed off people willing to do pretty much anything to get thier way, your dealing with a very powerful and violent group. They get into stealing warships, assanating leaders, terrorist type stuff. Then when they get enough ships\supplies and people they start doing major stuff like destroying Destroyers and whatever else they can think of. Then the goverment\GTVA hunts them down and destroys most of their ships\supplies. Then the pirates steal ships and other stuff all over again to replenish thier ships\supplies. But the goverment\GTVA cant fully hunt them all down.
So theres you pirate threat, as I see it.

I like pirates and I think that they are more of a cross between a terrorist group and a greedy company - they do anything in their power [terroirst part] to get lots of moeny [greedy company part]. Although I have a few twist on this general mold.:D
Oh and an0n - thats called 'Privateer and its siblings', kinda old now...

in going with the fiction, not enough power/space left over for one...
-
Looking good!
Just remember to leave cargo room for the ICE!
Remember Ice Pirates? (Alternate Title: If I were a Space Pirate this is what I wouldn't do!)...

Therefore it's extremely vulnerable to fighter/bomber attack. :)
-
its a pirate ship...not a front line cruiser...
-
It would never stand up to Alpha 1!!:D:D
Or the Shivans for that matter...
