Hello,
I need help with Freespace Mission Manager pof editor.
I'm actually modding with it a Mentu cruiser but i've encountered some problems with turrets...
How can i place a beam turret in the frontal part of the cruiser?
I need step to step help, including cohordinates...
Thank you,
Zarax

Where EXACTLY are you wanting to put it?
(And why are you doing pof editing in FSMM anyway - get ModelView 32 which does it WYSIWYG)
-
Well, i have no exact idea about the cohordinates, i want to place the beam turret on the nose...
Where can i get modelview32?

Descent Chronicles
Although, it seems highly unlikely that you'll get a beam turret there as for each turret you need a seperate subobject. You could always just switch a weapon in one of the regular turrets. :)

well, fsmm creates each turret as sunobject if i'm not wring...
-
No, you actually need a 'spinny rotaty thing' on the model itself before you can put a turret in it. You see all the laser turrets on the Iceni? Those are all subobjects on the pof geometry itself.

But aren't beam turrets the octagonal ones?
-
Not necessarily - they look better if they are, but you actually need one there on the nose for you to make a turret......I'll just go and have a look at the GVC Mentu - if I can remember which damned pof it is! :D:D
EDIT: I've examined the POF, and I presume that you're wanting to shove a beam turret into the little 'cleavage' at the bow? There is no turret subobject there, so it's not possible unless you turn the ship into a cob, and play with TS, adding one. :)
