At 10:20 GMT my good lady wife "fired out" an as-of-yet unnamed baby girl. Still undecided between two names (verity and annabelle) but open to suggestions.
(Keep it off Facebook those of you that know me ;) )
-
Congratulations!!
-
Congrats, that's amazing! She's a gift, keep her close. I'd for sure put my vote on Verity.
Although as a Dutch person I am morally obliged to suggest 'Wilhelmina' but you can safely ignore that if you so wish.
-
Verity gets my vote! Congrats!
-
I vote for Nova Carolina, Sophia Katarina or Alyssa Ysabelle :)
But from the two names, Annabelle sounds nice, as well ;)
Congratulations.
-
Congrats Dekker. We'll see you in a few years... these are very special times. Enjoy holding her as much as you can.
-
Alas I'm not in London anymore pal. 6 hours drive north, near enough the Scottish Borders to pop across the border for lunch and back lol.
It sounds silly but the leap from two hours old to nearly seven hours old took the blink of an eye :sigh: back to work soon too so I'm getting all my dad snuggles in.
I've already plotted out no less than 8 viable locations for boyfriend corpse disposal, because I know there are going to be boys who act how I acted......and my skill set may not include tracking but it definitely includes vehicular sabotage.
-
Awesome news! Congratulations.
-
Congrats, man!
You should name her Brexit, that will handle the boyfriend issue automatically by telling everyone that it's simply too complicated with her. :D
-
Dear god no lol.
I tried to slip Cassandra onto the possible names list but alas.....no wife approval.
-
Congratulations, man!
-
I like both, but for me the edge goes to Verity.
We were considering Katya for my daughter, but I could never pronounce it correctly lol. And the wife unit shot down Sabriel and Lireal. We went with Amberlie.
-
Congrats, Dekker! Both of those names are great, so I won't be much help on that front :)
-
Congrats!
In 10 years, are kids on the playground going to find ever new and creative ways to butcher her first and last name to tease her? In 20 years, when she's applying for a job and gives her name is she going to be taken seriously or considered someone with a fad name or nickname?
Wife and I vote Anabelle. Lots of opportunities for cute, shortened versions and she can still put the long-form on a resume. (Our daughter is named Evelyn but we call her Evie, pronounced "E-V.")
Best of luck. It sinks in when you get a minute between the two of you, look at the kid, look at each other, and then say... "Now what?" =)
-
Well our 17 month old boy won't give us time to let stuff sink in
I'm with your mindset, I apply the Homer Simpson method to names and if i can't find a quick insult then it tends to get through the initial sift.
-
Congratualtions to you and your wife - and a "welcome to the world" to your daughter.
... and if it still counts, Annabelle has my vote - easy to shorten to "Anna" for everyday use, and to mark that you are serious you can go full "Annabelle".
-
...or you could shorten it to Belle.
-
I quite like it but that's my dogs kennel club name so can't do that it would be too weird lol. :)
-
Congratulations Colonel, she's now apart of an elite crew of 7 billion.
-
Congrats

Thank you everyone for the kind wishes and views on names.
Following 9+ months of consideration by my wife, the wee ladysprog is now called "Verity"
I continue to live in fear that in many MANY MANY years I will have to unleash a wheelbarrow full of hate fuelled house bricks, one by one, liberally spiced with razor wire, to potential suitors ballbag areas......
