I think this may be a short post from me - but it's something I wanted to throw "to the floor" and see what others thought. Whilst out in Morocco for the last week I had access to various foreign satellite channels as well as BBC World News, which was on whenever I happened to be in my room. Suffice to say I learn't a lot more from that channel in one week than I did from a month of reading British newspapers.
Anyhow, along with news of the (terrible) flooding in China and the growing tensions around the planet I also learn't a couple of things that good old George Bush is going to do to **** the planet over. Here's why I think this man should be put back in an education somewhere so he has half a clue regarding the planet...
Firstly during the week I learn't of his plans to combat forest fires... great! Oh wait, how's this happening? Ah yes. Chop down the forests. Well done that man.
Ok, so perhaps complete deforestation isn't happening - but for goodness sake, chopping down trees is not the answer! People are not frequently killed on the offchance that one day they might commit a crime or start a fight - yet this destruction of forests is a similar action. No, I don't believe that trees are exactly as important as people may be - but they still matter a lot more than this man seems to give them credit for.
Further proof of his lack of caring for the planet itself comes in this second thing I learn't - that he won't be attending the summit in South Africa (I think that's where it is) regarding world poverty, helping the environment and so on. Oh no, he's got more pressing things to do... like killing people. Yep, good old George is going to stay in Texas on his ranch and plan attacks on Iraq. At least that is how it seemed to me.... this man is in no fit state to be in charge of the most influential country on the planet - he may be adept at performing certain tasks but his priorities are clearly not balanced. Perhaps it would be better if - instead of destroying the planet - he employed a second person to deal with this large and important matter?
Excuse my venting... but something about him really pisses me off. I don't doubt that he may be good at certain aspects of presidency and indeed America has certain priorities such as it's all important fight against terrorism. It might just be nice to put more thought into the planet - or find someone else who has time to... whilst the rest of us can do far less about it.
Thankyou, goodnight.

Yes, he's retarded, a military puppet and doesn't know the Arctic Circle from the Brazillian rainforest.
-
Does he even know we have a big forest? Oh yes, he does. And will probably try to take it from us.
-
I'm just hoping he goes for the arctic circle when they decide to take over the Amazon Forest. :D
-
If I had a sniper rifle and an alibi I'd blow his retarded brains out.

Well, no offense to national TV news channels and stuff, but I learned (SP!! Get it right! ;) ) a long time ago that if you want to watch nice biased news, BBC is a good choice. If, on the other hand, you want to hear both sides of a story relatively equally, you'd be better off watching FOX or something.... or maybe just watching the grass grow. :p
-
Every news agency is biased, and none of them could ever get all their facts right even if they wanted to. If you want the truth, go into the field and do your own researchin, draw your own conclusions  But as far as news agencies go, I have to admit that I like Fox news best, they atleast give some of both sides in every story...thats a lot more than most. ;)

Heh, I'm a republican, So I believe in George Bush. So screw all you who dont like him and think what hes doing is wrong. And for the people who ***** about him who live in other countries, you have no business too. Flame me all you want, I don't care. This is what i believe in. Who knows, maybe "Mr. Bush" wants to go to that thing for world poverty or whatever, but maybe he wants to sort out all of the problems in the mideast, which are immedeate threats to our and other countries. I don't have anything else to say.
Edit: And one more thing, I don't appreciate this thread being started.

FOX News is retarded. You'll get one program, like the general round-up being all anti-Taliban and labelling every middle-eastern peep a terrorist who should be put in a death-camp, then the next program will be something like the O'reilly Factor where he practically wants to help set-up some bombs.

Personally, I like the way Bush handled 9-11, he showed he had a backbone and wasnt gonna back down, something the Europeans are notorious for...the brits and French come to mind.

Thunder, do you know what the problem is?
The forests haven't been cleared - ie, had a fire go through them - in a long time. This means all the underbrush piles up, and that is what the easiest way to get a forest fire started is, igniting the underbrush.
Why hasn't there been fires to clear out this underbrush? Because people think those fires are bad and don't want them to happen, and stamped them out. And now that's coming back and causing problems... look at some of the monster fires in the western US. Only now are we realizing that the fires are an important part of the forest, as funny as that may sound.
Something had to be done to fix it. If you think Bush himself went and said 'ok guys, cut those damn trees down!' well.... I don't know what to say.
And national slagging is bad thing.
-
Surely setting fire to the underbrush would then spread to trees as well?
And indeed - a little clearing of stuff might well help, but from what I gathered it sounded like a full logging plan with the name of "ecological aid" stamped on it...
And I only know what I saw on the TV - and granted that may be biased and/or wrong as well. However it can't be denied that this isn't the first time that Bush has ignored "green" issues. Like I said the US does indeed have other matters, I just think it might be better if the man put someone compitent in place to take care of issues that he doesn't have time to give attention to.
I really didn't want this to turn into a nation slamming thread - I was kinda more hoping for a little political debate... perhaps some thoughts of ecological steps to prevent destroying the planet or something. I guess people missed that out.
Ho hum, the man is still nowhere near my good books (actually truth be told, I'm not sure I can name one political figure who is) but there's not much that can be done about it. I just hope we don't screw the planet over to much - and being the largest nation out there, America should be leading that. Their political figures certainly don't seem to be.
