Title: Tester List
Post by: RandomTiger on August 27, 2002, 03:12:02 pm
The tester list is online here (http://www.ijbrooks.demon.co.uk/tom/icqlist.htm).
Theres only 8 people on it so far but I hope more will turn up.

This site is meant for coders who for whatever reason need to test a freespace exe on a machine with specs you dont have access to. Or if you need to do mass testing for some crazy bug thats difficult to track. I recommend making up a debug exe that output details on what your testing so you can have some hard facts as well as a description from the tester.

I will look down on anyone who uses this site who is not willing to be in the list themselves, unless they have a good reason.

In the end everyone on the list has the right to be too busy to help us.

Any comments?

RT, go ahead and get these people subscrived to the developer list so they know when we make changes.

Also, if you want, we can have a testing meeting where we work through everyone's issues with bugzilla.

Im not sure thats a good idea. I was not really expecting the testers to be a force in themselves (yet) more a tool for programmers to use when they need.

Im worried that if they are bombarded with dev changes and meeting requests some of them will be scared off.

I suggest that we tread with caution, the list is only a day old and is not a proven resource yet. Perhaps we can scale things up if more members join.

If any of them want to be really active I'll make sure they get that chance. I currently have link to my exe and details of how to test it on the site. We could all do this if my page could be moved over to the coders hosted site (which I know nothing of but have been assured exists).

Lets face it only two people attended last programmer meeting and we are meant have a lot more than 8 members. I dont think its realistic at this stage.

Ok, I'll let ya run with it RT :)

BTW, several other people showed up JUST after you left on Saturday, so, it wasn't a complete bust from my perspective, and we did get some things done ;)
