Why do you call a heavy cruiser "Dreadnought"? It doesn't make much sense...
-
Dreadnought is a ship class not a name. So GTHC Dreadnought makes no more sense than GTHC Bomber or GTHC Destroyer.
-
Well, the corvette in the original Independance War was named Dreadnaught....although it was the first of its class, so it ended up being the class too. :)
CVN-301 Dreadnaught.

Perhaps you can find something usefull here http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,9626.0.html

First off, the very first Drednaught was called HMS Dreadnaught.
Secondly, I'm in need of a texturer, so if you'd like to help on my project, send me a pm

What has this got to with "T and L" ?

I think he means, why is there both Heavy Cruiser AND Dreadnaught in the name?
A Heavy Cruiser and a Dreadnaught are 2 different things.
And the class of ship goes in the prefix, not the actual name of the ship.

That's what I meant too. If it was a dreadnaught called the Dreadnaught it might make sense. As it is it makes no sense at all. Especially as in FS2 cruisers are quite small ships so a heavy cruiser would probably still be smaller than corvette and therefore much smaller than a Dreadnaught should be in FS2. Heavy cruiser only works if you`re completely ignoring FS2 ship classes.

Yep. Know that. That kind of makes it more unlikely that the GTVA would re-use the name and ship class at the same time in my opinion. I can see them bringing the class but not the name at the same time.
-
Since there is no FS ship class called 'dreadnaught', why can't he call it 'dreadnaught'?!
-
he can, there is no written rule to stop him. There is however a common acceptance that dreadnaught's are Sathanas sized warships of the GTVA. A ship such as the Collossus would fall into this category. So would alot of other supercaps. The designation being GTDn.

Try to get to the point in posts. I've seen attention getters that got people into trouble. Some guy on the VBB posted a thread that sayed "I KNOW WHEN FREESPACE3 IS COMING OUT!!!". He got flamed so bad I think they locked the thread. Everybody was mad, and he wasn't to popular at all. I can't remember who it was. I hadn't joined the VBB, but when I tryed to, they were already closing shop. I hadn't had time to join yet, but I almost joined just to flame him, didn't care if I got kicked off. I've hated that guy ever since.
EDIT:But the one you used is completely inoccent. I don't disprove of it at all, and no one would have any reason to. I just like to point things out.
-
Yeah, it's a bad idea to use topics that are just attention getters...imagine if everyone posted "Z!!" "L and N" "M" :shaking:
By using a descriptive topic, you get replies that are relevant to the subject
-
Your right, any attention getters are kind of annoying. You don't get people who know anything about what You are doing, you get people who are curios.
EDIT:Has The Refugee fled the forum? I don't see him.
