Useful for modders thinking about the size of their downloads.
-
Think it's funny that as I'm posting only Cable and DSL people have voted. Obviously those of us with a fast connection are the only people surfing this early in the day :)

ADSL 512/512 here...
Now there is one 56k... but most might have DSL or cable connection, so that's why.
-
Sorry to break this to you but we can't all afford £30 a month on a DSL connection. :sigh:
Now maybe in a few years time...
-
I live in rural(ish) Australia. 'nuff said.
Ok, so that's not enough said. I did have ADSL here once (for a whole month), until that monopolising telco that is Telstra changed their plans for the worse. Now I've been back on 56k for over a year....

Two words: Use cable.
If you already own or buy the modem right away, instead of renting it, you can get a decent connection with little money.
I for one, have a 512 d-load/ 256 upload cable, for which a pay ............... (converting crowns to pounds) ............... about £12 per month.

Cable
-
1500/128 cable; the downloading is good, but my upload got cut in a third when @home went down. :p

Heh - almost the exact same specs as I have: 1500/96 ADSL, but the upload sucks simply for the heck of it. :doubt:

Sweet. Now to find out if that's even possible where I live before I even think about asking for it. :blah: It's probably not possible. Can't get DSL here. :mad2:

Blah...DSL...blah...CABLE!!!!!!!
-
w00t for cable... even though I live in a pretty small place I'm glad it's big enough for cable :)
-
Cable = public restroom.
Sure it seems ok at first, but the more people that use it in your area, the more it sucks-ass.

what you need is SDSL
much better than ADSL, which i had, but like i could download at 100 KBPS at least, but when uploading it rarely hit 12 KBPS... which sucked...
i could go to the server and use its fiber optic line, but i don't like doing that
-
Actually im happy with my dual-line isdn with resource-leeching off my T1.4 equipped server. But we all can't be rich.

true dat (the 'we can't all be rich' part) but there's some UBER-rich neighborhoods where i live (like 500 thousand and up) and they have their own dual T1 lines, but this particular one has its own dedicated fiber optic line, and it's just $10.00 a month for an extra I.P. and my friend knows someone who lives in it, so... :)

mmh? here they lend you the modem for free. I have an upload limit of 6Gb per month tho, but this tends to dissapear (but not with AOHell of course )

Cable, adelphia powerlink :)

I'm on cable, but I'm one of three people hanging off the local hub. The local Roadrunner branch isn't beeing too strict on their caps, so I routinely get 2mb/1mb.
The other two users are these business man types and they barely hit a gig of traffic a month. :D
