Thats just plain stupid... If a nation bans gambling... Mmmm... I could understand that (with great pain). But banning games? Come on! They can just as well declare Martial Law... :nervous:

nah, they're on their way to a spartan way of life.
Once that's attained they'll all run around naked with hoplons, armour and corinthian helmets, wielding new guns and then go to conquer the world....

well, in everquest maybe

oh wait, they're forbidden to play that now :p

lol banning gaming, at first i thought they meant like indian gaming ( a la casinos ) but then i realized Greece has no idians and i should really stop jumping to conclusions before i read these articles.

It's like all the p2p's out there today illegally sharing music, you can't really enforce all these retarded laws.

CP, do you always have to tell that... I'm getting tired of hearing that over and over. :sigh:

Though I halfly agree with you, except the last opinion shouldn't be banned.

And alcohol is also good if you don't take it much. Smoking, though, is never good. Or drugs.

Of course, an absolute ban of all alchohol, although it would make both Muslims and ZN happy, would cause all the Christian religions of the world to start massive protests. Including the extremists.

Start going Door-to-Door... We raided all the ISP's and got your addresses now we are performing gaming inspections (iraq?). If you are caught gaming we will haul your a$$ to the parthanon and excute you! Plus not only will your drives be wiped, but to make sure it is NEVER used for evil illegal gaming again your computer will also be executed (on live - pay per view?)... Comments?

Exactly. What helps your statement in absolutely nothing. If the ones in power feel that math (or anything else) is a threat to their rule, they will ban it, period. It has been done before, it can be done again - the usefulness of it has nothing to do with it.

Unless you live in some retard place, smoking on public transport is banned and in most buildings that are essential. Theones where smoking is permitted are either segregated, or you can choose to go there or not. And as for smoking in public, smoking outdoors is public but I expect hardly any smoke gets to you outdoors.

People were burned for trying to propagate ideas that did not fit in with the church doctrines. Since the Bible does not have too many references to math, they didn't really argue with whatever little mathematical progress there was. They did go after science much more violently since that contradicted their ideas for the most part, but even then they could only attack spreading ideas and not things that people were discovering privately and keeping a secret of.

Today perhaps, but in the future I doubt it, just as this law is next to impossible to enforce today but is conceivable quite easy to do so in the future. If these laws are gradually implemented over very large periods of time, most people will not really notice or care. :D

I believe you are trying to be sarcastic there, but in today's world, how are they going to go after everyone who plays computer games anyway? They could install some kind of surveillance systems in every single house, but that would take many years and a ton of money; it is feasible though, which is why I said that it could easily be enforced in the future.

*attempts to put this thread back on track*

I spent several hours last night trying to derive a series representation for this:

¥
òx-xdx
0

This converges to a constant value surprisingly close to 2, around 1.995455977898199. I have been able to obtain a series for the indefinite HXI function of order 2,

  ¥ k
å å [ xk+1 (k+1)n k! logk(-x) ] / [ (-1)k+n (k+1)k+1 n! ]
k=0 n=0

but cannot easily find the limit of this thing as x tends to infinity since this is a double generalized power series and reducing it to a single sum introduces incomplete gamma functions. (which are also hard to work with in limits) Its convergence is fairly slow so it is numerically pretty useless, and I would like an exact symbolic representation anyway. Anyone know how to take the limit of this?

OO;;  Okay, okay...  You seem to have a hard time understanding that this is clearly college-level math you're dealing with.  Maybe beyond.  I certainly don't know enough about it to wager a decent guess, but this much is obvious: 95% of this board just looks at this and scratchs their heads, myself included.  You'd might as well write an entire topic in Russian.
