Title: Metal Gear Solid
Post by: Thor on September 01, 2002, 11:09:21 am
Having just finished MGS2 and Currently replaying MGS on the PC, I was wondering what everyone thought of these two games.  Personaly, I found them to be very immersive, and rich in plot and character depth.  I do have a few problems with the number and length of the cutscenes in MGS2, but Nothing is perfect.  So what did you all think of them, and will you buy Metal Gear 2: Substance, for the PC?  I am.

MGS 1 = teh win.

MGS 2 = preachy, plot heavy, and the plot made no sense.  Plus I couldnt stand Raiden.

MGS was quite possibly the greatest thirty-two bit game ever created.  Fantastic gameplay, awesome graphics, and a storyline to rival Hollywood's greatest.  This was *the* Playstation game to own.  A masterpiece.

MGS2 was great, but didn't quite live up to its predessecor.  I, personally, felt that the Plant section of the game was flawed, and not just Raiden.  Granted, the pansy-boy was annoying, but wasn't the greatest drawback of the game.  Poor level design, a weak, and very confusing story (especially in the last fifteen minutes), and just...a lack of that feel of achivement left me wanting more.  I just hope that Substance can give me that extra...well...substance to a game that could've been a legend.

MG1 was a good game, MG2 is too short.

Zeronet, you ninny, didn't you read my post?  It asked if you will buy it, FOR THE PC!!!

I guess I should explain what I know about Substance.  It features a crap load of VR missions (300 was a number I heard)  and the ability to play the plant level as Snake.  Also same for the reverse (Raiden on Tanker)  And includes a set of missions called Snake Tales, which are non-related to the story proper.  There is also a wierd Tony Hawk-esque skateboard map :wtf: And alternate missions.  It will be availinle on the PS2, X-box and the Computer.  I have no clue when though, just WID (When Its Done).

I also agree that Raiden totally lacked Snakes cool factor, and the story was very deep, but I like deep so there.:p .  It Rose that I had the biggest issue with, what a girl.  You may continue

No, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it was just that e3 trailer.

The only real news we had in a while is the contest for those who want their name in the game (for the dog tags).
