I assume they're like // in C? If they are you'd just put them infront of the part you want semi-coloned out and the reverse.... but I don't know if that works with FS2 tbl files.

yeah, I'm pretty sure he means that... like in the tbl...

Quote

From FS2 tbl files:

become the standard issue Primary weapon for all Terran fighters and bombers.", 3245)
$end_multi_text
$Model File:                           none
; The following fields (preceded by @) are only required for laser
; rendering, which requires that "Model File:" be none.
; These are the same values that used to be hard-coded:
@Laser Bitmap:                        newglo9
@Laser Glow:                        2_laserglow03
@Laser Color:                        250, 0, 0

notice that the ; seperate the comments from the rest....

a semi-colon if front of a line of text excludes that text from the code until a it is interupted by a $ or @

If you are to delete text that has semicolons at the begining of the text, which is just comments to explain the line before it, then use wordpad ... But be very carful, as to not delete any text without a ;; or you will find... Wait a minuet, i`m not sure I really understand what you mean, cause the weapon will work just as fine with the semicolons as it will without:confused:  Now i`m really confused.... disorented I walk in circles ??!!!??

In FS tables they're just descriptions and explanations or something like that.

Its just commented out.  Its like REM in ini files and stuff.

SO...ummm....

$Damage: 10000

Is on, while

; $Damage: 10000 is off....although I bet FS2 will complain bitterly about the thing being removed.

I am a bit confused about what you are asking here; from your post it looks like you already know the answer to your question? :wtf:

If I read your post right, then you may be asking how to remove or utilize semicolons to use or block aspects of a weapon... Now if you want to remove a certain part, it could also cause FS2 to crash, i`ve played around with weapons, mainly just modifing laser turrets, I haven`t tried to experiment with beam weapons as of yet... I`ve used wordpad, strictly for editing ship and weapons tables and have only removed the (;;) if the pcx file was in the effects folder for the changes made, because the reason being that if the pcx file isn`t present then you will find yourself looking at the desktop, or a blank screen, which by the way have both happened to me, all I can really say is to play around with it untll you achive your abjective, whatever that my be... I have also had to at one point remove and reinstall, for reasons that I corrupted the game to a point that it hated me and just quit running... I`ve come to the conclusion that some aspects are better left to the more qualified editors than me, with that said i`ll leave you to your task at hand and be on my way... :D
