After much deliberation, I decided to begin work on an image to commemorate the upcoming 11th of September. A year on from the attack on the WTC and Pentagon, with yet more war looming on the horizon it seemed only right for someone in hlp art to do something. I choose to post now, rather than on 9/11, since most people will be more preoccupied on that day.

The image contains small images of what happened that day, from the night-lit skyline of NY to the moment one of the towers began to collapse. The sunlight on the left representing the hope that people found even in darkness. Nemo Me Impune Lacessit, placed in the darkness just beyond the sun on the left represents people's anger. The two flags at the bottom represent the solidarity between the UK and USA after the attack, and also as a tribute to the Brits also killed in the towers that day. Finally, the text in the bottom left corner is for all those in history, no matter what thier nationality, who have died fighting for freedom, and for those they love.





I do not seek any opinion or help for this image, I ask only a moments contemplation.

Solidarity. Hahahahahahahahahahahah [insert 8 pages of laughing]. The UK ain't that far from saying '**** it, attack Iraq yourselves'. Blair seems to be the only one wanting to attack and if he goes ahead with it (labour don't want to attack, Tories don't wanna attack, Lib Dems don't wanna attack, the Monster Raving Looney party (yes, it's real) don't wanna attack, the army doesn't want to attack), then MI6 will have him dead, dying or gravely threatened within a week.

I'm not going to let this get turned into a politics thread by one of your typically petty and childish posts an0n, but I will correct you on several matters: The tories do want to attack, in fact they're pressing for blair to hurry up, the lib dems want to see the dossier on SH's nuclear weapons and Labour are just grumbling because they're afraid their leader is turning into a "hawk" (imagine how a socialist feels about that!).

Congratulations an0n, you've pissed me off AND totally derailed a thread on the second post - I hope you are happy.

i think its terrible that someone can show so much disrespect for such an event. Laughter should not be put in the same thread as Sept 11. I think an0n seriously needs to sort his priorities.

I think the comemrative pic was a good idea, let all those who died rest in peace.

How does slaughtering thousands of back-water civillians and dredging up all the 'horror' on a yearly basis let them rest in peace?

Anon how the hell do you know so much about UK public opinion?

UK public opinion is waiting for the same evidence that 80% of your country is.

The main Torry concerns is that TB is overstretching the MOD without increasing funding.

Meh... why even post something like that at HLP? This is not the place for stuff like that, in my opinion.
 
And why do we want to see what happened at that day? I don't know about you Americans but I think threads like this = bad. :no:

I think its your own fault this happened Vyper... Its ok to put up a pic of the firemen taking the flag... But GEEZ! Don't put up those TERROR pics! It is bound to make ppl riot... They are not HLP material.

Frankly, I too see nothing of value in those pictures. If you'd put an american flag up there it would be :yes:. But this is asking for trouble in a board like this.

P.S. : I might not be American but I still grieve for the loss life on 9/11. :(
