I want to see the X-Wing series the most. Second would be the New Jedi Order.
I placed the X-Wing series as the Star Wars novel I want most to be a movie because there are characters inside that are not Luke Skywalker or Han Solo. Yes, they do make cameo appearances from time to time but the focus is more on Wedge Antilles and Rogue Squadron. Especially Corran Horn. How he became a great pilot and slowly discovered his Jedi heritage. And those space fire fights!!!:)
-
NJO, I want to see the fall of Coruscant
-
Never read any of those.
-
Thrawn Trilogy. NJO second.
-
Truce at Bakuura, only one I've read.
It will probably be episode 7, anyway.

IIRC, GL said that after he finishes ep. III there will be no more SW movies.

Me neither. Where can I get one?
-
Personally, X-wing could easily be made into a series, with each book being a season. And Styxx, if you like FS, you'll really like X-wing. And try a BOOK STORE for those. It's a big place filled with books.
-
Something good.
Like the Hyperion series.
-
I still think the Thrawn trilogy would make a 1337 movie.....

Hyperion is good...
But!...
Ian M. Banks in my opinion would be cooelr :D (culture books)
-
Hyperion's got the epic feel to it, something that the Culture books do rather lack.
Different stories though, the Culture books are just things that happened (very interesting things that happened, mind you) whereas Hyperion is a pivotal event.
Either would work though.
-
well, I suppose the movie could be re-worked to be epic (for culture) but it probably ends up hyperion would be "easier" to be a movie that appeals to modern culture...
which, by the way I wonder what a hyperion movie would be rated (from the language and violence at leats PG-13 imho)
-
Probably just a PG-13, there's not really enough in it to slot it in R.
-
NJO! Black hole effects... new race... lotsa jedi!! If you read the latest NJO book, is it just me, or is it VERY confusing :D
I like confusing... that book tested my mental skillz to understand what the hell was happening. Very cool book, I recommend the whole series tho :)
I'd place Thrawn trillogy second :)

Star Trek was originally slated to end at "The Search for Spock", but we all know how that turned out. :)

Really? That I did not know.
I was just stating what others have said that GL said, who knows what will actualy happen?

What's also interesting is that "The Undiscovered Country" was also slated to be the last movie for Trek. What keeps it going is the popularity of the series. I seriously doubt GL will stop with EP3. Look at the fanfic movies people have made so far! Specifically the hilarious "Troops". When the fans want more, Hollywood must comply or face hoardes of angry fans.

NJO is tiight.. thrawn would make a great series, but everyone knows it... NJO is "fresher" and you can have a lot more freedom with it and still stay cannon.

Ah yes. NJO.
Black hole shields.
Relativistic battles.
Biotechnology.
Are any of these really Star Wars?
In my opinion, NO!
-
X-wing series
Lotsa cool battles, good characters, and just plain cool! Definitely make a good series...plus we get to see the fall of Coruscant to the NR. And a bit of the Jedi too (Imperial Jedi Museum!)
-
I've only had a chance to read I Jedi so I can't really vote but it was better movie material than Ep.1 :blah:

I, Jedi was good, although the first-person perspective threw me off for the first chapter or so. Not as good as the Thrawn trilogy IMHO, but good. :)

ST 6 was a good movei. IMO it was the last good Trek movie. Too bad they didn't stop with that one.

We are the borg, lower your sheilds and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctives to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is Futile.

Ahh...that one. Irritating Borg. Where do they come from anyway? Do they actually have a planet or are they just nomadic barbarians with devices all over their bodies?
-
Actually, if you like Jedis and lightsabers in Episodes 1 and 2, you would love the New Jedi Order. It pits Luke Skywalker and the Jedis against an enemy whom they cannot sense in the Force. The Yuuzhan Vong. So far, only Anakin Solo seems to be the one closest to discovering how to detect Yuuzhan Vong in the Force. Too bad he was killed.
The book also highlights the growing relationship between Jagged Fel and Jaina Solo. Interesting stuff there. The exciting fire fights in space. Black hole anomolies that suck up laser bolts. Plasma bolts and coralskippers. And even more biotechnology that sometimes overwhelms the New Republic. Not to mention the Yuuzhan Vong's weird culture and hatred for technology which they refer to as abominations.
All in all, I think the New Jedi Order should be the novel that is turned into a movie or even a few episodes. Its fresh and entertaining.

You can ask the exact same questions about the Shivans. It's the mystery of things that makes it a good plot element. Thus, I'm not too hot on campaigns that set out to Explain Everything™.

Back ON TOPIC.
I'd love to see the 'Wraith Squadron Trilogy' made into either a series or three movies. Those are X-Wing books 5, 6 and 7 for those who care...

I have the entire X-Wing series. The books you refer to are the following:
1.) X-Wing: Wraith Squadron
2.)X-Wing: Iron Fist
3.)X-Wing: Solo Command
All of htem are written by Aaron Allston. They are great novels too. Especially the covert operations the squadron always carry out.

The best SW book I read was Wedge's Gamble(X-Wing, book 2)

That one was a bit boring as they tried to liberate Coruscant. I think the most interesting of the X-Wing series is The Bacta War. Lots of fighting. Reminds me of the old days of the Rebellion.

Maybe they come from here... (http://shodan.dslegacy.net/divineseeds.php?seed=3208)
;)

Very interesting.
New Jedi Order or the Thrawn trilogy it doesn't matter thier both good.
Man read the latest book didn't believe it could even happen was very interesting what also happened to the jedi temple. ( New Jedi Order: Traitor) I bet Ganner Rhysode didn't see it coming.
-
Definitely X-wing series! I think the original movies didn't have enough space battles. Thrawn trilogy would be good too.
-
Rogue Squadron: The Bacta Wars
The three books there would give more than enough information to cover two movies (Or compressed a little for one long one).
Come on, we'd actually get to see them fighting the SSD Lusayanka Intelligently instead of failed bombing runs turning into kamikazi strikes on the bridges (Endor).
Plus it's got enough sneaking, dialog and foot-battles and whatnot going on to keep the anti-space guys happy too.
(I can't watch a sci-fi movie without my roomie b!tching about how shields and other stuff is just 'stupid').
-
NJO gets my vote for worthiness of conversion to movies. X-Wing series second, Thrawn trilogy third.
Problem with NJO as movies would be that there are 20+ books (some of which haven't been published yet) and that is just way too much to put into three movies.
Too bad, though, I would have loved to see space battles between Rogue Squadron and some of those coralskippers...
Seeing how Coruscant would look after the Yhuuzhan Vong vong-form it into Yhuuzhan'tar would have been REALLY cool, too.

I know all that! :D:D
I've read the 'Wraith Squadron Trilogy' about nine times! :D:D
I can prolly name all of the squadron! :D
And Kell Tainer is too much like me it's scary!
-
I wouldn't make Star wars novels into films. I would make Freespace 1 and 2 into films. :D
-
Damn straight,
Freespace, A New Threat
Starring Sean Connery as Admiral Petrarch
and [insert name here] as Aching Botch
-
"I'll play your game you rouge!"
"And i'm the cock of the walk"
"let's see what mr. connery's answer is... hmm here we go it says _your mother is a whore_..."
"hahhaahha!!"
;)

Eh, did you read the last part of Traitor?
Excerpt(Spoiler, do not read if you haven't read the books already):
"They are about to discover that the Vong forming of Yuuzhan'Tar is not going exactly to plan. In fact, everything is going to go _a little bit wrong_ for them from now on. No matter how hard they try, nothing will happen quite the way they want it to.
...
They'll either have to murder the dyurham(brain) and start over from scratch--which they have neither the time nor resources to do-or they are going to have to learn to compromise."
-
DragonClaw, yup, I did read Traitor. Oh, that was a kool idea, making that except in your post colored black so that it can't be seen without highlighting it. BTW, people, DC is right, it's a spoiler so don't read it until after you read the NJO novel titled Traitor.
I just saw a picture of Vergere in the New Character Guide to Star Wars book. She's a colorful, treacherous and inscrutable little alien....
I can't wait to read the next NJO novel. Destiny's Way is going to kick ass! :D

Meh - I'm quite behind on those books (last one I read was Edge of Victory: Rebirth, since I can't find Star By Star in paperback yet, and I refuse to spend oogles of money on a hardcover), so Annakin dying was a spoiler to me. :( Oh well.
-
so Annakin dying was a spoiler to me. Oh well.
D@mnit man!!! have you no shame?!?!
EDIT = I'm on like the 3rd or 4th NJO book

Sandy, Star by Star won't be coming out in paperback for at least a few more months. By that time, you'll be five books and more than a year behind everyone else in keeping up with the NJO series.
So you'll spend $25 instead of $7, big deal. At least you'll be in the know and caught up with the story. Just wait until you read the Enemy Lines I:Rebel Dream and Enemy Lines II:Rebel Stand books! You won't believe what Wedge Antilles manages to do with the Lusankya Super Star Destroyer! ;7 :drevil:
And if you tell me that you're gonna wait for Destiny's way to be published in paperback as well, I'm gonna have to smack you just on principle. :sigh: :p

Sorry, dude, but it was already spoiled earlier on in the thread. I assumed that people actually read a thread from the beginning unless it's a CP5670/Levyathan showdown. Sorry again. :-/

Well, I'll be in the US in Nov-Dec, so I hope it's out by then.

Being caught up is the least of my worries, since I'm so far behind as it is. Besides, I'm not the type who remembers a book after only one read; I'm going to have to re-read the NJO series from the start before I continue on, and I have no idea when I'll find the time to do that. :doubt:

Yeah, I would've used the ship differently.
Spoiler discussion concerning the Lusankya:
Pity Starlancer was a trick. FTL weaponry (other than Centerpoint) would kick soooo much ass...one big cannon mounted on the Lusankya blasting away vong ships in orbit of Coruscant....
