Would it be possible to make FS so it could read other more inexpensive file formats? Lets say .BLEND

You mean something with higher-poly count perhaps?

well NaN is making Blender 3D a opensource program soon (hopefuly) So I was wondering if it would be possible to get FS to read other model file formats.

I seem to remember this being discussed before... and the conclusion was that all the modelers can POF, Freespace can POF, POF does everything we need it to, so we're sticking with it.
