Sorry, the Phrase "Apple Inc." was in the first paragraph.... couldn't read any further
-
ug I stopped at MAC. :(
-
apple = don't know, don't care.
'nuff said.
-
Interesting, but more information is necessary before attempting a comparison. Since its a mac though, it will not be very useful for us gamers due to compatibility issues. (macs used to be quite superior to dos machine about twelve years ago in my opinion but have since fallen dramatically)

For those of you too lazy (Where are your Open Minds?!??!) to read the thing, it's about a PC version of OS X. :D

:wtf:

Sorry, read Apple Inc, couldnt read further.

Interesting.......
BTW, the rest of you do realise that, as a computer, the Mac chip architecture is vastly superior to the over-complex, overrated and under-performing Intel architecture?
The only advantage the 'PC' has is its software compatibility.
-
:D
My tutor at Uni has a Mac. I try not to take the piss, in case she makes them mark me exams down

Thats the whle point.... Make the Mac compatible with all software and I'm the first to buy one.
-
I like macs, they look cooler and run faster, they're just incompatible with too many things i like, so this thing i just might get...if I can afford it :doubt:
-
hmm... this could be quite interesting
-
Hmm, didn't read it all.
*runs*

MAC's are majorily supirior to PC on graphic fronts, if u wanna do anything to do with art on coputers in an actual job u WILL use a MAC

Macs are just a better designed computer - they totally redesigned the g6, I think, to be a 64-bit processor from the ground up, whereas Pentium chips get increasingly clogged up trying to maintian backwards compatibility - especially as a lot of the arch has to take into account some complex assembler instructions (the x086 series originally was developed to make assmebler coding easier, and so has almost HLL-esque instructions.... which complicates the architecture and slows it down).......... and so forth.
-
I agree that Macs in general have superior hardware architecture to their PC counterparts. For the gaming crowd though, there are two problems with them that make them impractical: the obvious compatibility issue, and the comparatively high prices.
Actually I used to be a big mac fan about ten years ago but switched to PCs when it became apparent that about 95% of the software out there was windows-only. However, I recently bought an old mac from ebay just to be able to play all the old classic games, since my original mac is no longer working. (was quite a deal too; 75mhz/24mb ram/2gb hdd/8x cd/15" monitor for $40 :D)

yeah, but people are more used to PCs, and i think they've been advertised more and the general overall people are used to them from work and stuff :D
i don't think i'd ever get an apple... i don't know why :)

Move over I got my TRS-80 COLOR computer2!!! That's right normally 16K memory I got the expanded memcard for a whopping 64K! Booya!
I play Dungeons of Daggeroth. A fanciful romp of whimsy through a dark 10x10 cubed mapped dungeon of 5 tedious levels where 2d monsters chase you around and make annoying sounds that increase of fade with distance... Ooops the screen is losing pixels, my torch must be running low...
Oh no! I swung my sword too fast, and too many times now my heart icon on screen is fibulating and I lose conciousness cause of a heart attack! 'hears the monster come around the corner and - SNICK!' I'm dead...
man I miss the old days...
I 'other' love was Karateka a martial arts mountain top of mayhem where you fight the evil daimyo's goons and beat his bird to a pulp then take the big baddie on to rescue your woman (on the Apple IIe)... I even had a modem 300baud. But I saved up and for X-mas got a 2400 baud modem for like $75.00!!! It was so cool I'd stay on all weekend long to raid all the BBS's for tradewars time... L8tr
