Title: My latest masterpiece

The RSCa Amaethon, a smallish carrier built into an asteroid.

After the GTVA fell apart, the newly-formed Rim Systems Alliance was struggling to keep the occasional pirates in check. In the early times, before the vast resources were tapped pirates were a large problem, and the RSA didn't have the resources to build large, fighter-carrying ships. The few Orions that they had were too large and slow to catch the quick-striking pirate groups. This led to the development of the Amaethon. It was built inside a hollowed-out asteroid, with added engines and a bay for the fighters to exit. Most of the room is taken by the huge fighterbay and room for the pilots, and not much for ammunition or massive reactors. This means that the ship has minimal weaponry, not capable of engaging even the weakest cruiser without its fighters.

Top speed: 40 m/s
Weaponry: 4 standard flak, 2 AAAf
Lenght: 600 m
Fighters/bombers: 50
Crew: 25 (without fighter pilots)

(Ships for the RSA use names from Celtic mythology)

Sorta like the NTF Galatea or whatever it was called... Put more metal thingies on it and that thing'll be sweet in an asteroid field...

And for the last 30 minutes I've been working on an advanced replacement ("http://koti.mbnet.fi/jabu/newcrr.jpg"), since the RSA is really really rich now, it can start building more new, cooler ships   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
