Title: Freespace 2 open: Frame Rate
Post by: NJW1979 on August 06, 2023, 09:51:20 am
I enabled the FPS display in the advanced options of the Knossos launcher.  The frame rate is 120FPS.  I have a 165Hz monitor.  is there ANY way to get the frame rate to 165FPS?  I'd really love to get the most out of my monitor.

It looks like there's a command line option to remove the FPS cap (-no_fps_capping). Then if you're using vsync and have your monitor set to 165 hz, you should get 165 fps. If you don't want to use vsync, you have to use something like RTSS or your GPU control panel to cap the fps manually to 165.

Thanks, I will try it out later on.  I use NVIDIA Control Panel to cap my FPS to 3 frames lower than my refresh rate or I get screen tearing as my monitor is only "G-Sync Compatible" and doesn't have an official NVIDIA G-Sync chip (I can't afford one).

EDIT: It works!  Thank you very much!
