I have a new song that i want to use to replace the Aquataine.wav. I extracted the mainhall, sounds and music tables. As far as i know i have changed all the entrys for the aquataine will the new song. When I try to get into FS2 the computer stops for a second and places me back to windows with an error message:
'iligal operation'
or something like that. The new song IS a wav file.
I need help. What should i do?
Will apreciate any help.

WHy didn't you try just renaming the file Aquitane.wav?
-
True.
I always do things the hard way for some reason. I'll try in a sec.
-
Nope didnt work.
-
well, something's wrong then, coz I did that way for my campaign( renaiming my music to aquitaine), and it worked
-
It could be the wav. What could be wrong with it?
-
Try compressing it in Microsoft APCDM(?) if it isn't already...
-
.wav means nothing. You need to find out what KIND of wav file it is. Compression, bit-rate, quality.
-
I got it working. Thanks all:)

sorta didnt want to bump such a old topic but i think that it still remains an important branch to my new problem...
Ok i got some new music that is being used ingame. I hear everything but everytime the new arrival music plays the battle music overlaps with it. Sounds really bad. It doesnt do this for the enemys arrival just the friendlys arrival.
So do i got a problem in the tbls or is it the format for the accutal wav or what? Have tried everything that i can think of (which isnt much to be honest)

Ugh, music. The table specifies something about the tempo that's used to meld the pieces together, but I don't know squat about music so I can't help. :blah:
-
I think this is an issue with FS2 itself, since unlike FS1, the game is designed to play the fs2_aarv_a01.wav file for friendly arrival in all of the soundtracks. This file meshes well with other music, so the game does not stop playing the existing music when a new ship arrives but rather overlaps them.

Sounds really weird with the fs1 music in game. The music overlaps there. Must be something in the fs2 table that isn't in the fs1 music table.

I think it overlaps because Fs2's dynamic music wasent set up as well as Fs1's.
Speaking of the dynamic music lets get to my new problem.
I want the dynamic music off. Ingame i want one and only one music wav to play no matter what situation. The wav would repeat over and over untill you exit the mission.
If possible I want to be able to have this feature on certain tracks. I dont want to take out ALL the dynamic music, just the dynamic music on one or two of the ingame tracks.
If it comes down to either having all dynamic music for the game or none at all, I'd like to know how to take out all of the dynamic music and replace it with my own.
Is this possible?

sounds like a source code problemâ„¢
-
I thought so.

I like how the friendly arrival happens ontop of the music. Its just supposed to be a chime...this was a "feature"...not a "bug" :D
-
I agree, but when my new arrival music overlaped with the new battle music, it sounded....interesting at best.
Why doesnt the music overlap for enemy arrivals?
Thats why i thought it was a "bug" cause why overlap on one arrival but not the other?

because enemy arrival can be used as transition between ambient and battle tracks.
