Title: [Release] FS1 & FS2 Voice Restoration Mods
Post by: TheAudioService on May 22, 2024, 04:19:25 pm
Hi,
for the last few days I've been editing and remastering all in-game voices of the two games.
That includes  briefings,de-briefings and radio messages.
All audio has been upsampled  from 22.05KHz to 44.1Khz.

You can listen to it here:
and here:

Downloads via Knossos:
https://fsnebula.org/mod/FS1_VoiceRestoreMod (https://fsnebula.org/mod/FS1_VoiceRestoreMod)
https://fsnebula.org/mod/VoiceRestoreMod (https://fsnebula.org/mod/VoiceRestoreMod)

Both these mods replace the stu_fsX.vp file so check compatibility.

Let me know if you have comments or find any bugs.

I think....
:welcome:
Is an understatement.  Hell of a first post dude.  What's your toolset for the remaster?

Hi Sorry, for the late reply and thanks for the warm welcome.
It's a bunch of filters and a workflow I've developed to recover those lost frequencies and also to get consistent results over many hundred files.

I have been testing this a bit but I find there's quite a lot of samples where voices become muffled or unclear. I have two particular examples I wanna highlight:

3_Death: The "HELP ME!" scream becomes muffled halfway through, but you can still hear some distortion happening at the end of the clip.

SM207_MB_01: Vasudan voicelines in general get a raw deal. With the original files, you can hear both the vasudan and translated lines clearly and at the same volume. With this mod's files, vasudan characters become significantly harder to understand - mostly the vasudan, but often enough the translated lines become muffled or tuned out.
