A strange thing happened to me last night. I was doing part 1 of my playthrough of Renegade Resurgence and on the mission where the Aquitaine is destroyed, I fled to the Vasuda Prime node too early and all GTVA ships turned hostile after Commander Guy branded me a traitor. I destroyed two fighters before fleeing and despite the destruction of the Aquitaine, Admiral Petrarch came back from the dead to condemn me and tell me I had committed treason.

Doesn't "Their Finest Hour" play victory music sometimes? Or at least I saw that happen in a Youtube video.

It does. When you complete that mission, none of the objectives are failed.
